Actually, I am ashamed to show this off because ruthervain is showing off his awesome gun right now. Anyway, I spent about 2 (?) hours working on this and it turned out rather well so far in my opinion. Maybe it'll get used in the Nightfire mod.
This is a model of an m4a1 (no hands in the screenies, so you can see the gun). This is running for the title of "the best model I've ever made", even though it's not quite finished; I also have not textured it yet. I will get to that.

Yeah, Axis. A little after I posted, I started thinking that. I think I fixed that though.

I'll work on this gun tomorrow; I was doing some cog work for another mod today, and that's why I didn't have anything new today.

btw, I'll fix the hand prob later. The gun will fit into the hand, but I put it too high in Jed. Before I can fix it, I'll have to merge all the sectors of the weapon into one nad use the MoveSec2V plugin, which can move sectors w/o damaging textures (yay for plugins! ). I just don't want to merge until I'm sure I'm done, so the hand will be one of the last things fixed.

Nightfire Mod

The gun itself could still use a lot of work. Not to mention, it's... very flat. But looking at the model, I notice a lot of problems... stock is wrong (in many ways), clip should be bent, trigger is wide, rail system is too long, and a bit thin, there's no square shaped item beneath the large site. And then there's the fact it's all very flat. Use a picture of one, look at the projections, and try and imitate some of the more prominent ones with cleaving, and/or additional sector pieces.

Not all of these are important of course, but you should work on those that are visible. What you have now, would probably be good as a third person model.

It really wouldn't be that hard to improve it alot. A lot could be done with just simple pieces combined. For instance, the stock would be nice with three pieces in place of what you have, a cylinder, a small ellipse, and a box. Bending the clip can be done just by cleaving opposing surfaces to create a set of new verts, then moving the bottom set.

I'm not trying to insult you. But, just can't say it's great when it's that far off. It's, ok, but could use a lot of improvement in my opinion.
