Tazz, that's a matter of taste and opinion. Plus, when I put some more meat on her legs, she'll look less like a silcone implanted anorexic. Trust me, I spent quite some time around that uh... area... to ensure that it was exactly the way I wanted it.

I prolly shudda waited til I was done. Everyone here is so critical when it comes to polygonal women. When MaDa posted his female model, he got much more negative feedback than anything else. I mean geez... the comments were so bad, you'd think he had made the next Star Wars movie!

Maybe you need to change the chest area though, the boobs usually don't stick out like that when clothed.

The arms are correct length. Mine hang down well past my waist. Look in a mirror to see appropriate arm length. Of course each individual has different lengths. The feet look awkward unless those are going to be later shoes.

And put a little meat on her!

It looks more like an anime model than anything. The proportions seem exaggerated in a similar manner. I personally think the chest is a bit big. But, other than that, I'd also like to see the chest changed, by bringing out some of the polies in between and from below, so there's a sense of cloth. Would be nicer for skinning purposes that way. Make waste a little bigger.

As for comment about feet, I believe those are supposed to be high heels.

You can't really tell from that angle, but those are heeled boots shes got on... thats why the feet look strange.

And as for proportions, I was originally shooting for and mid-point between realistic and anime. That's always been my choice drawing technique, so I thought there should be some consistancy. HOWEVER, MaDa didn't like the direction I was taking her (he always wanted her to be more petite), so don't be surprised if she gains 25 pounds on the next update.

Like Gebohq said, "Proportions tend to need exxageration in any fictional media". I succomb to this... I admit it. I was one of the thousands who thought Lara Croft was hot. Granted, Angelina Jolie is hotter, but I wasn't shootin for that ths time.

BTW- I suppose everyone's right about the waste... I wouldn't agree normaly (from a purely anime standpoint) but it looked quite ridiculous in-game.

And it called "tasty hamburger" because that's what MaDaVentor named his thread when he was showcasing his female model. Man...what, 2 years ago? Why did he name it that? We can only speculate.

Breasts don't have cleavage anywhere near that. A single strait line going down the center of the breasts, seperating them that much, is completelly incorrect, even on an anime level.

Secondly, there's a difference between 'half anime, half realistic' and completelly odd and unbalanced. Her breasts don't look advartising, like anime, but not realisticall homely, they just look wrong. Her waist is obviously too thin, in accordence to her buttocks and head. Anime artists tend to be more skinny, but usually have a balance between breasts and waist. The two usually reflect eachother. 2 heads wide at the waist is a good idea for anime.

You know what? I think I just might can the whole thing. It pains me in a way, knowing how much time we put into her, but I realize this is a lost cause. Even if I get her exactly the way I want her (which isn't far from how she is now), it won't accepted by the majority... which really defeats the purpose. Our original intent was to breathe some life into a dying game... and I can still do that. Just not with models.

I'll just stick to what I'm half-way decent at, making maps... Because if you can't do something "right", then why do it at all? I'll leave recreating the female form to the anatomy experts.

I hope that didn't sound bitter. Sometimes people just need to put themselves in their rightful place. Especially people like me. Thank you all for your honest opinions.

Good Lord. You really need to whipe that attitude off your *** , and take another look at things. People commented because it was a GOOD MODEL. I wouldn't have bothered offering my time to type something up, did I not think my comments would go to a good cause. You assume that all criticism is BAD. It's not. The reason we post on the showcase forum is, believe it or not, to get criticism. I know a few unamed gods make it seem like a place to flaunt their godliness, but it's not. You post your work in order to have it torn appart, and re-assessed by an eye that isn't your own. That's how you become good. Don't get the attitude that because it's not perfect, it's not worth doing. I've been modeling for over 8 months, and I am quite confident in my modeling abilities, but there's absolutelly no way for me to make player models. Some of you have seen MY rendition of a human being. It's not pretty. You claim to be nothing more to a mapper, yet you can dub me in modeling skills with this player model. You my friend, are simply being stubborn.

I should hope to see the next version of this model in due time.

I really didn't mean it like that. I did post this for criticism... and and positive critiques serve only to swell an ego. But I've noticed that female player models have always been a touchy subject here. Everyone has there own tastes and opinions on whats a better female form. It's not just a problem here, but in pop culture as a whole... and I bite too. I'm as shallow as the next guy on this subject.

So I don't get off the subject entirely, look... jEDIkIRBY, I have a lot of respect for you and your opinion. It wasn't what you said that halted this project... it was my realization that it doesn't belong here. I dunno, maybe I will finish it... but only for sentimental value. I prolly won't release it.

Now the map I'm working on now will be my last JK map. Then I'm moving to UT2k4 or Far Cry. If I was making a JK gun model 3DO or a Millenium Falcon 3DO for instance, i might have finished that first, since they have much more of a broad generic appeal... being objects of consistant shapes.

Bah, I'll rant forever if I don't stop. I do respect your opinions, but my decision still stands....
