Here's some screens of my first UT2004 Onslaught level, called ONS-Summit. The PowerCores are on opposite sides of a large mountain (It gets colder at higher altitudes!). There are two nodes at the base of the mountain, and two at the top (Another node setup includes an extra one in the summit choke point). There is only one path to the opposite base, allowing for some intense battles.
There is also a redeemer, plenty of other weapons, and a lot of vehicles.

The level is almost finished (it has bot routes too) and will be released very soon.

I'd suggest slapping more static meshes or something in there.. right now it looks a bit barren. (Unless, of course, that was what you were going for.)

You may want to consider scaling up the textures on the terrain, as the tiling is noticeable, also, decolayers for grass and such would be great. As would static meshes for rocks, etc. Generally I'd suggest having more "stuff" in the map. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

The terrain looks like it will be fun... [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

Wow if that makes you wanna buy the game your in for a real shock when you see the levels Epic pulled out of their shorts.

All in all its okay but it needs a bit more work by the look of the screen shots the whole level looks alittle blah.

The terrain seems a bit too streched.

I think more trees or rocks might look out of place, but maybe I'll add a small amount of grass decolayers... And scaling up the textures would make them look low res (if I scaled it up just a little, it would still look tiled).

Are they custom or stock textures? If stock, most of UT's textures are insanely high res.. and you can stretch 'em out a good distance before they start too look bad... You really, really need to scale 'em up a bit, its just tiling entirely too much.

As for the trees and such.. how would they look out of place? It looks like a temperate place. Trees are pretty much ubiquitous, and it'd make the place seem a lot less barren with even just a FEW in there, and even then its something to LOOK at other than the terrain.

Don't get me wrong, the terrain looks good and all, but by itself it's just not good enough. Look at Epic's maps. They're all LOADED with static meshes all over the place on their terrains. Insane amounts, really. It may seem like clutter, but if used correctly it makes things more aesthetically pleasing.

Regardless, the map will more than likely play well with/without trees and other such things... but I think you should take a look at them anyways, they really add to the feel of a level.

I've added a grass decolayer to some of the lower grassy areas.

Right now the grass seems kind of tall... I'll either make it shorter, or leave it and make it more dense so people can hide in it (and then somehow turn off the foilage flag so people can't disable it to cheat).

Ya I noticed the textures were quite high res, so I'll try scaling them up a bit. And maybe I'll add some pine trees [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

I like it. Looks a lot better with the grass.

Yeah the grass looks great.

Out of curiosity, how'd you do the radarmap? Exported the heightmap and then colorized in photoshop?

For the radarmap:
Make a backup copy, then delete everything except the terrain, then in top view press T to show the terrain (re-calculate lighting if necessary), then take a screenshot with printscreen, then resize the screenshot to 256x256 and import it in Ued and compress it to DXT1. More trees I say!

Any chance you could link me to some tutorials for the editor?

That last one is specific to Onslaught (and is a nice complimentary tutorial to the one on UnrealOps).

Looking awesome but is the land formed in a linear path? From the radarmap it looks like there is one distinct path between the power cores. That is just my opinion.
