The filter on the first looks a tad too intense for my likings, but it's by far the better of the two. The second has too many outline shadows, and those are bad, especially around the face. Outline shadows prove that there's an unatural lightsource being shined on the subject, which if you know anything about photogrophy, is a bad thing. Realistic lighting makes the eyes set easier. The first has no general lighting, which is fine.
The only thing they both need is a lighter held to them, because you can't spell crap without rap.
