I made this one with jed, it took around 2-3 hours to make. Ive recently started making my favourite models and the minigun is one of my favourites. So here it is.







Comments? Critasism?

you're not merging the model completely. you have overlapping surfaces that are causing z-fighting. cleave the barrels where they connect to other parts of the gun and delete the whatever is within.

Surely he doesnt need to, thats a problem with the 3d renderer. Just means more time and effort texturing and more polies.

I really didnt liked your first models.. i remeber some small gun you made but... now your really really good.. the last 2 models... and even the Uzi is awsome!

a_person, your models are getting better and better, but I would like to introduce you to the Perfect Polygons and Perfect Pipes tutorials here at Massassi. I think they'd be very useful for this 3do.

Uhhh, he is using the perfect polygons, I'm certain.

In any case, I'm pretty sure that there aren't 3 support disks on that weapon, but I could be mistaken.

I also think that a bit more definition in the handels would be nice, some finger indents, a button, perhaps?

Otherwise, it's again, one of your best models. You're taking a turn for the best with your modeling, and I'm very happy to see you experimenting to simply make a model. Very well done.

May I present the much easier (and usually quicker) method called GoRotate (excellent when used in conjunction with Extrude and Scaling, and when you're making a sphere, Mirror Madness). Plugins rock!
The perfect polygons tutorials never worked for me anyway -- the sectors just weren't quite aligned and wouldn't adjoin/merge.

I forgot what happened when I tried the Perfect Pipes tutor, but either way I've gotten into using GetBent.

There's other ways to do perfect polygons, of course. Not talking about plugins either, lol. But, no Kirby, I don't believe he's using perfect polygons. They're off, a bit. If I had to guess, I'd say he's using circular pillars tutorial. Whatever it is, it makes them look more like rounded squares than circles.

As for the merging, that also should be done. The z-fighting isn't from the renderer. He's taken the tubes, and just run them straight through the supports. The renderer gives trouble because of the overlapping meshes. There's no sign of cleaving/merging along the barrels in the jed shot.

As for the gun in general, looks nice, though something looks off to me. Don't know what though, off my head.

Tanks for the great comments. And the barrel cylinders are the same cylinder duplicated 6 times the 3 discs at the end are duplicated and the handle bit holding it all up is mirrored.

I will fix the handle It was a little rushed and also the three discs at the end I was using Hellcats minigun to copy ideas from. So it may or may not be 3.
