Don't try petting this salamander/lizard hybrid creature if you find one in your backyard... [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

It's my first decent organic-like wings3d model, Rendered in Bryce 5. I'm still working on the feet, so please don't complain about the joints (or absense thereof)

Cool. It's a very organic looking creature. Although it doesn't look very dangerous. Even the colouring does not suggest it would be poisonous. The eye looks a bit strange; why is it so red?

I'm using default bryce textures in this one for a quick render. Like I said, I plan to do more work on the model and I'm going to change the skin to something more brownish, although I will keep the bump-mapping the way it is.

As far as it looking non-threatening, I thought the long teeth would be enough to create the effect. With that said, I'm also going to add spines on the back to make it look more menacing. Condider this one the domesticated variety. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

Also, I made the eyes red b/c some chamelions have reddish eyes.

Teeth? Are you sure? I thought they were whiskers!

yes, those look very much like whiskers. Generally teeth don't come out of the mouth when it's closed, so maybe you should have it's mouth open and have teeth? Or make the teeth smaller, and don't have them jut out as much.

But it looks like a good start.

Since most salamander species are insect eaters (I believe), and many of them are restricted to watery environment due to physiological facts, it wouldn't be impossible for them to have whiskers. They would help the salamander to hunt in low light or muddy water. Large teeth (or fangs), however, are not necessary for insects eater.

Maybe I didn't say it clearly enough, but I consider that a very nice render of a salamander / lizard hybrid [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]
