In any situation where I appear to be false, I assure you I am correct. In such a case, it is, in fact, reality that is mistaken.

Pay no attention to the beggar behind the curtain,
that looks great,
a light source right at the top of those two lower domes might look pretty cool.

This looks like something that could have been designed by the real architects of old. Of course it needs some actual details in addition to the mainfabric. Was this for the competition that didn't encourage texturing? For with texturing and some structural detailing not belonning to the hull of the building, like windows, columns, railings, candelabras... you name it... this would be such a map that words could do it no justice.

Tis AWESOME! If you ever do decide to texture it though it's going to be a pain in the arse.

Why would it be hard to texture?

Please pick one of the following:

Looks just like many of the chambers at the old Moor fort of Alhambra in Granada, Spain.

Very Arabesque.
If it breaks, you get to keep both pieces.

3, but give it more variety. It needs variation in color of bricks, depth of bricks, and some straightness to break up the excessive curves.

None of those textures go with it though! Seriously, if your going to spend time on making it look "cool" spend time on making some nice textures for it

Jedi Academy. I like pic 2, what with the inverted colors... It just stands out real nice.

Its not that it would be hard to texture, I meant it would be hard to find the right combination of textures to compliment the design.

I think the worst one would be the brick one. The textures are just too sloppy for my tastes. I would have to say 2 or 4, but i still think it shouldnt be flat colors.

I second this. I thought Alhambra was a mosque, though.

At any rate, the last shot is lovely. I'd a faint stone pattern to the solid color textures, though. And lose or soften the black lines.
A desperate disease requires a dangerous remedy.

A major source of objection to a free economy is precisely that it gives people what they want instead of what a particular group thinks they ought to want. Underlying most arguments against the free market is a lack of belief in freedom itself.

the 3rd pic, but with more detail and variation (needs candelabras (sp?), stained glass, and a spiral staircase leading down to that pit. That would be good.

I'd say something of a mix of 1 and 2. Definitely not three. For me, there's just a beautiful effect in using solid colors and not actual textures. Putting textures on it would just ruin it, I feel. However, I don't care for the orange, or the dark grey and white. I'd say main color a light grey, and the secondary color either a darker grey, or white.

I definitely like #3 the best.
Not really too fond of #1's color tone -- the orange looks a little awkward on there.
Funny, I look at #2 and I think it's a black/white screenie of a dflt.mat level [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]. Interesting though...
#4, eh.. needs a different design, but other than that it looks good.

But I still like #3 best.

It's not hard to texture, but may take time if you want the patches to be textured properly without the nasty look of axial projection.

Sine, well yes, it's a big fort-mosque-palace comlex so it's got a little bit of everything [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

Try texturing it all with a pale sandston-ey texture? Maybe add some striped borders over the arches and some sort of faded mural on the flat parts of the wall?

This site has good pictures of the muqarnas style stuff of Alhambra if that's what you'd want to emulate.
If it breaks, you get to keep both pieces.

Wonderful use of existing architecture. I like the grid texture too, but perhaps you'll find some mosque-ish textures somewhere?

The white-and-gray grid is the 'shader-error' texture from Quake III. I had to fake it, because the real texture is always full bright. The geocomp has a 10 texture limit. I thought using just 1 texture was good; but using none? Even better!

I've already re-worked the spiral texturing.
