Could look good, but the textures look way too unaligned (or whatever the modern word is).

Well, they are climbable, only you'll have to jump for each step.

The textures... Yes... They are unaligned, and yet, I used ForceRemap. I WAS RIPPED OFF!!! [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]

Haha, very clever. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]

I probably should have said this before, but it needs texture work and some lighting.

I dunno... the first one looks a bit cleaner.

The texturing is hideous, there isn't much to the model... I'd say take a look at some pictures of real blimps and start over.

I just thought I'd point out that you were correct. That's not a blimp, it's a zeppelin. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

Anyway the Hindenberg disaster was probably a result of sabatoge.

Well, don't blame me! Blame ForceRemap! I thought it would make the textures tilable all around the balloon. But I guess you need something more advanced if your going to make a 256x256 mat with lots of little squares wrap around 23 layers. I don't suppose there is any program that can set a mat to be the same size as two triangles? I made the balloon in 3DSmax.

Why are there 23 layers for the sphere?

Look at how simple what I did was: Here's the render of the object using orthographic prespective.

Resized to 256 x 256 and palleted

Then using forceremap I selected auto remapping top. I only needed to use one layer for the 3do which has a total of 392 polygons. Even for just an inefficient test like this the results are more pleasing. Later when I split the mesh into several layers and use multiple textures I'll post to explain how that is done.

Early zepplins like the Hindenberg were filled with EXPLOSIVE hydrogen, the lightest element. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif] After the disaster, zepplins were filled with the much-safer helium, the second lightest element.

The blimp skin was also made from, included or was covered with (I cannot remember which) a compound very similar to rocket fuel...
