Prom 2004 Showcase *Awesome Pics*

This thread is in the right place, because prom wasn't just a dance or social event for me, it was a place to showcase my finest work.

this is the outfits that I made for me and my date to wear.
You can see, my coat is not a regular Tux.

I made everything you see here. Shirt, tie, pants and all.

The shirt has an extra high collar
[http://phear.slankeykrew.com/Prom/collar1.jpg]

And on my coat, I have a span of 15 *Fifteen* feet
[http://phear.slankeykrew.com/Prom/michael2.jpg]

Also, so make sure we matched, I made my dates dress as well.
I have never made a dress before, as well as any womens clothing.

The night was great, and we were the best looking couple there. People kept saying "Wow, you guys match" like we didnt know...

Anyway, I had a matrix themed coat, and on the way home we had a matrix themed highway crash! We hit a giant I-beam that fell off an 18 wheeler. I was the 3rd car to hit it, and 1st to pull off. While standing on the side of the road, I watched 15 other cars hit the beam, all of which lost tires, spun around, etc. Thats 18 cars total, it was quite a mess.

What do ya'll think? Please let me know!

This thread was entertaining in so many ways. Let me count them:

1. Your clothes are pretty nice. And original, too. You rock at clothes-making. Mabe someday we'll be asking "is that a PhearTheSpork or a cheap knockoff?"

2. That's quite the highway accident. I imagine it could have been worse, though. Your date seems flustered. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

3. Speaking of your date, she's hot. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

I don't like the trench-like suit, because I don't know.. it just doesn't seem all that... suit-ish. She dress is superb. The fact that you actually MADE any clothing what so ever is amazing in itself.

By the way, what are YOU doing with such an AMAZING looking girl? What's her name? Is there something there? Does she have a sister?

You are by far the most pathetic individual I've ever seen in my entire life. How did you not get laughed out of wherever they held this prom?

awww... Massassi has its own fashion designer! [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

I love it. Not necessarily for the actual design, which burns my weak, conservative eyes, but for the fact that you actually crafted all that. I'm glad that everything went so well for you (except the crash. :P)

Dang, that stuff is good. I might get a trenchcoat for my prom if I can find one. The only thing is the red. I don't know what it is about it, it just seems TOO red. Still awsome though, I'd like to see one with the inside Carolina blue.
2004-05-09, 4:01 PM #16
That's very impressive work there.
2004-05-09, 4:02 PM #17
Eh, none of you think it's kinda wierd to wear a big trench coat to prom? :P

Sure, he crafted it well, but I would never be caught actually wearing it in public even [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]

Your clothes are all great, quite good in fact.

Her dress leaves alot to be desired. Understandable because you've never made womens clothing, but it looks pretty "off" and cheap.

Did you take a look at professional prom dresses at all or just guess? Only curious.

Please don't take my comments as meanspirited or angry, they're not (it's quite amazing you can make clothes at all! wow!), but I'm just giving real feedback.

I think it's the highly visible seams near her boobs that throw the whole thing off. The middle one shouldn't be there at all (what purpose does it serve anyway? I'm sure you could make it without) and the ones going up her boobs seem to go too high. Other than that, the whole dress seems a bit unnecessarily loose (she doesn't seem fat to me).

Now that I've thoroughly discoursed on a topic I know nothing about, I shall run away.

"Excellent, Mr. PhearTheSpork. You will now design and produce the Massassi uniform. You have no choice, if you ever want to see your muppet alive ever again! Mwuhahahahaha!"

But seriously. Awesome. The dress looks really good, especially for a first shot at women's clothing, and your suit is just sex.

You should get a picture taken of you spinning in it, and letting the 'wings' fly out.. and then post it here. I'll be waiting.

Thanks for the comments everyone.

oSiRiS, thanks for the feedback. If I want to major in fashion design, I need feedback like yours.
Yes, I did look at prom dresses, but still chose a design of my own. The original design which I made, the top was one piece, and it had speghitti straps, but she had her heart set on a halter-top, like we ended up making.
The seem in the middle of the chest connects the two bodice pieces together (to create the halter top to hold the boobs, theres no way it would have worked being made out of one piece). The mid-bust seems are almost too high, but thats because I had to make the top conciderabally smaller to get them to fit right.
Overall, the dress was a tad too loose, but I didnt have time to fix it. I finished our outfits at about 5:30 and prom started at 7:30, and I still had to shower, pick her up, get her dress to her, take pictures, eat dinner and make it to prom.
Yeah, I cut it close.

Mr. Alias, the material for the pants and the coat is a special fabric called Commander fabric. Its water proof and wind resistant. They were surprisingly comfortable.

And yeah, I do take custom orders!
2004-05-10, 12:31 PM #27
How much do they cost, though?

Like what could you quote me on a creme coat and pants with a light brown vest and a beige tie?

I know baggy is stylish, but you've got too much talent to be wasting it. Cut your sleeves a bit tighter (not too much, but they look a little too loose) and shorten the cuffs of your sleeves. In every jacket I've seen you make your hands are almost covered. It just doesn't look right.
