Download link is the same.

** Update **

Finally enough people pushed me to develop this. It is still in a very beta stage. And YES, it does import texture mappings too. Please play with responsibility!

Download it here ms3doImporter.zip ~15k

Bug reports and feedback is appreciated.

But for some multi-meshed 3do's it just converts one mesh....

Yay! Even though I've lost interest in jk editing, I'm still glad to finally see such a plugin popup because it would be so nice to be able to import 3do with UVs preserved into milkshape so I could import them into 3dsmax for advanced tweaking. [RandyJackson]I got to give you your props, bro![/RandyJackson]

Could you post the 3do file? I've tested multi-meshed 3do's and it seemed fine.

Oh wait, do you mean the different LOD meshes that can be present in 3dos. In that case yes, my 3do model loading code current only loads the first (which should be the most detailed) mesh. I'll see what I can do about that later. Currently I'm trying to figure out what to do about meshes that have different textures for different triangles within the same mesh. One possible solution is to assign the smoothing group based on triangle texture index.

Zy, if you could make it support geosets/lods, I'll be more than happy to have to give you a big wet one on the mouth [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

...that shouldn't be considered a threat, BTW, hehe.

New features have been added to the Milkshape 3do importer:

3do offsets can be used to automatically position 3do parts. This is useful for importing characters, such as R2 in the screenshot.

New option to automatically shift all UVs down by one unit. This is use full when importing official Lucas 3dos that have negative UVs.

New option to automatically convert all MATs into TGA files. TGA files are saved in same directory as the Mats. The importer will now also assign textures to a mesh group. The texture choosen will be the texture of the first triangle of the mesh group.

The smoothening group of a triangle is assigned based on the MAT number of that triangle. This will allow you to easily select triangles and fix any wrong texture assignments. Remember that 3dos assign textures per triangle and not per mesh!

Still having trouble with importing joints/bones. Gotta re-read JK specs to get a handle on heirarchy.

Better late than never I guess. Incredibly I still get a few emails every month inquiring about 3dos. There must still be a secret society of 3do modelers out there.

Same here. Even though im not into JK editing anymore, its good to see a plugin finally created to import to milkshape. The way I use to do it took alot more work :S

*me loads up 3do converter, selects .3do import and sets .obj export* *Shivers*

Good Job btw.

Ok, I fixed the major tga filename bug. That should be it for this 3do importer. Currently I don't have the time to implement Geosets or automatic Bone generation. Download link is the same as the first post.
