That's my very attractive friend Taylor's s/n.
That's a digital-painting of her, which I did today.

She's single, and owns a web-design company. I love seattle and the attractive nerds I get to meet every day [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

p.s. I used painter 8 for color base and the nice faux-acrylic brushes (which I'm in love with). Then I went in with photoshop and added the rest of the details. Overall, about 4.5 hours. I like painting in this method. Instead of the fakeish, very CGish ultra-smoothness of a PS airbrushed image, I get this neat almost painting image thingy.

Hmmm.. I don't know.. it's ok like that, but still I get the impression it's a tad too sharp. Needs more distortion methinks.

Looks like a photograph where you let some filter loose on. And that is, concidering that you made this by hand, a compliment! [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

I take it the overexposure is by design.

The over exposure is by design. We were going for contrast against her pace paint, so we had a bright light. We also took a photo, but I can't find it (I don't even think I have it, actually...)

There's a couple ways to tell for sure it's a drawing. First, I did the lines on her **** very last, and very slopilly, as I was tired by the time I realized I should put those on.

Next, you can see a spot I missed with the brushing at the top of her forehead by where her hair hangs down. I just now noticed that, so I'll have to fix it some other time. Also, a very triangular piece of the black BG I was painting over is in the upper left hand corner. Something else I just noticed.

The bits that were done in photoshop were:
The shiny jewels in her hair by her left temple
Some detailing to the face paint
Highlites in her eyes and on her septum jewlery
the lines on her shirt, and my signature
AND some misellaneous touchups.

I should also mention that since it's a digital painting, I was using a tablet. Wacom graphire 2, to be more specific.

I prefer this fake-acrylic look to this plasticy example

ok I'm done typing now, heh

She's hawt. She's a geek. She's single. Compos Mentis... I bow.

I have a hard time beleiving it's not filtered like crazy, but if you insist, I say it looks fine, but those things really need to be fixed.

Might we get the original photo soon, just so I can assure you're not filtering the whole thing... and yeah, you got me. I want to see a non-distortion of her. *looks around*

It's not filtered, it just took alot of time. I do paintings in this style quite often, and have become pretty proficient at them. I had another thread with pieces done in the same style, and was never accused of using a filter until now. I don't see exactly why I should bother to attain a photo (I'd have to drive 45 minutes just to get one to scan), but if I do, I'll put it up.

I, personally, don't see how it could really even look filtered. There's a ton of spots I missed. I pointed out errors in an earlier post, and now I can see even more. There are several dark "dots" where I missed just a pixel or two with the brush. One on her nose, several around her eyes and face paint. I'll post a pic of the canvas and different parts, though, to show that it wasn't filtered. From now on, though, I implore you to consider others feelings when you go accusing them of lying. I spent hours on this thing, and to have some kid accuse me of "cheating" doesn't sit well with me.

But I may just be overreacting. I'll have a clarification post made in a short bit.

OMFG! I never knew about the "Reply with quote" button [http://forums.massassi.net/html/eek.gif] (I probably did at one point, but I guess I forgot then).

No more down syndrome jokes [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif] (kirby knows what i am talking about)

Looks really good man, any in-progress shots/saves? Would love to see your technique.

Cheers

No in-progress shots. But I'll probably do that when I do kirby later this week. Then, I could share my technique, and some of the better artists could help me out as well.

And sorry J-kirby, I was really edgey that whole day. I was out of line, heh.

Thanks for the comments, everyone!

Very cool! That must take a lot of patience and skill. Just wondering, but is that a tattoo or a face painting?
