KJKL Tower

I've been working with JED on and off for like half a year, and I've made some stuff now and then, but this is the first level I'm actually releasing.

It takes place on top of a 1,300 ft satellite communication building, informally known as the "JK Tower", of a fictional radio station (KJKL) But when KJKL is suddenly taken off the air, all that is left is a lonely structure, due to be demolished some time soon. A few computers are still running, but other than that, it is a perfectly abandoned location for a shootout.

Not finished yet. Comments, suggestions, flames? [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

P.S. Screens were taken with SSR4000 Pro.

I hated it! :P
It looks very interesting... hopefully it also plays well. I guess we'll have to wait to find that out for sure.

Fix the images. They're nice and broken.

Gah, I don't want to be the nazi, but it seems like a bunch of blocks with nice textures.

[Edit: Then again it is just a building..so I guess it has the right to be square..you win this time batman!..errrm, nice job in that case]

looks nice but I'd suggest looking at one of the lighting tutorials cuz some of the lights are messed up. Looking good for your time with JED though.

Here's a couple angles of a two-story structure I'm building on the roof. This is where employees would hang out or eat lunch or whatever. Most of the open frames I'm going to fill in with breakable glass, but I'm still reading the tutorials. Tell me what you think!

And yes, vegie, I'm gonna work on the lighting. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

I really like the design, just align those textures and you're good to go.

I don't know why you keep showing off those SSR weapons in you level, though. :S

Werd up on the marble texty... plus, less cubic archi would be more easy on the eye... it's a shame you're not aligning yer texties as you go... it's so easy. Just select the start texty, Press CTRL+INS, then select the adjacent texture that you wanna align and press INS... Then make a sandwich.

I actually like your archi a lot. The boxy is quite boxy, but you do it with realism. I really enjoy the current archi and design scheam. What you do need to work on is texturing. The textures are nice, but the alignment is poor. Your lighting needs much work as well.

I'd like that marble texture. If it's not online somewhere, could you send it to me? jEDIkIRBY@hotmail.com

Don't worry, I'm working as mush as I can on this level, but I have a lot of school work. I added some glass, not all of it, cause I'm still designing the entrance door. I'm not gonna make it breakable, that would take a billion cogs. I changed the marble on the upper floor to blue carpet, and changed the marble texture on the lower level.

I'll try as hard as I can with the texture alignment. I'm also reading lighting tutorials, so you'll be seing some changes soon.

p.s. jEDIkIRBY check yer email, i sent that texture. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

As I scrolled down the images, I was going to echo Echoman's comments that the marble texture just didn't quite sit right with me somehow, but I much prefer the blue carpet amendment - it just seems much more fitting [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

The work so far shows promise (obviously the lighting will come in time, once you've finished all the architecture [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]) and, as JediKirby points out, you can get away with boxy architecture so far as realism goes with this type of level/theme, but just don't over do it - there are beams and what-nots inside buildings, so just aim for whatever seems credible but doesn't hugely impact on framerate [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

Keep up the good work [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

Looks nice, although I personally am going to strike out and say that the carpet is a bit off. It's not that it looks bad, I just odn't think construction workers would have carpeted an open-air, unfinished roof top. All sorts of nasty things could happen with no roof on, mainly rain, lightning, bird poop [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif] I just think you should make it concrete.

As for the rest of the level, very nice work. I apologize if someone has already asked this, but is it Mp or Sp? Thanks.

I'm making this for MP, maybe I could whip up an SP version, but I don't know what the point would be. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

More screens comin soon.

Looking okay, now make the lighting a bit better. (Read the lighting tutorials, they really help.)

And add some greenery. I could definately see some potted plants in there.

Yes, potted plants make the boxy rooms more realistic.

Looks interesting...

Btw... with the proper re-texturing, that sniper rifle could be turned into a nice Tusken rifle. (New level idea!!! "Canyon Sniper"!!!).
