...I'd like a little feedback.

The following applies:

1) The buildings pictured are the low detail models. I'm going to get all of the low detail versions of all the buildings out of the way before I go back and start adding detail. I've also made more textures for the particular buildings pictured, just haven't applied them yet.

2) That is GoZ's Corevette 3do. It's the 1:1 scale version (though I'm unsure as to rather it REALLY is 1:1, though it won't matter for this). I'm unsure as to rather I'll be remaking the model or not. More the likely I'll modify the textures to give it that yellowish baige tint that we all remember from New Hope.

3) Lighting temporary. Mainly just for illustration purposes and to make the screenshot a little more intresting. An yes, the light source is coming from the ground. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

4) The buildings pictured are 60 JKU's tall. The Corvette is sitting at a height of 52 JKU's from the ground.

5) I'm going to be using a blue-greyish fog for two reasons. First because it's in my references [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif] and secondly, because I can use it to replace/destroy LOD buildings/3dos without it being too obvious.

Nar?

Oh right, feedback. It looks good for a humongous building. I don't know what this is for, though.

Well, it looks good. However (and I don't know whether you are changing this with the new textures or not), it might look more realistic if the lights in the windows are on in a more random pattern, instead of having them all on. Also, the lighting on the corvette looks weird, but that's probably just the angle combined with the low light levels. Plus, you said the lighting was temporary.

All in all, I like it. Might we be enlightened as to what this is for?

Looks good. my record height for something in a map is 150 JKUs. It was a free falling map with lights and such shineing at you. Still too buggy to release though.

Thats the niceness! I'd really like to see where this is going... lots of potential.

BTW- Friend, I'm having trouble with my e-mail... I can receive but I can't send. I'd have fixed it by now, but I don't get a lot of e-mail, so I haven't bothered trying to figure it out yet. I hope you don't think I'm ignoring you. I'd like to talk further tho if you still want to... you can sometimes catch me on AIM, under "halucid" of course... or drop me a line on my message board at www.we-own-you.com

1) Yeah your basically looking at one texture slapped across both buildings. I even used the same texture for the bridges between them. It's all temporary. A lot of preplanning actually went into this. The buildings are layed out in 'uneven' (meaning, not the same height, width, depth) sections. This does two things. First, it breaks up the building making it easier to 'form'(model) and secondly breaks up the surfaces so that different textures of the same set can be applied [the sections are also broken up in sizes the power of two so that it won't require much hand tamporing. At this point, I basically just have to go through and replace mats since all the stitching is (basically) done].

2) Define wierd for me. I liked the way the Corvette was lit dispite the lighting being temporary. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif] But I'm intrested in your POV.

Right now it's just a POC but I might make something out of it that would be release worthy if there was enough intrest. I could certainly make it fit into my current project schedule...

Could go both ways...

I'd certainly like to make it MP if possible. Either way, it requires code talent that I simply don't have nor have the time to learn. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif]

For the lighting on the corvette, it looks good (as far as light levels are concerned), but you have a couple of sharp lines between light and shadow that look kind of unnatural. Maybe if you just add some more lights that are a lot less bright, to give sort of a diffuse lighting effect... I know its a 3DO, so there isn't really much you can do. I'm assuming you are using dynamic lighting?

Okay, I think I've solved the lighting issue (for now, anyhow). The problem was caused by the lighted bridges/walkways between the buildings. I redid the 3do's so it would light properly. Let me know what you think of it now:

Uh...look...if I'm completely out of line for saying this, I preemptively apologize, but I *really* can't help but notice that your level bears a very striking resemblance to a part of a Nar Shaddaa map I was making for JA a while back. ...Like..not the sort of resemblance lent by shared inspiration, but, well, copying.

I'm really not trying to **** on you, and maybe it's just a crazy coincidence, but I had to say something..

Like I said, the resemblance seems awfully strong even if the same reference was used, but I'll take your word for it. Consider it dropped.

Um, Sine, I appreciate your concern but I wouldn't want to use your level as a 'guide' of sorts. Your level more closely mimics the feel of the JK levels, I'm trying to mimic the cutscene as closely as possible, using cleaner textures, ect. It's all part of the POC that I'm working on...
