I wouldn't want to camp out here...

I thought I was done editing JK, but now I'm nearing completion of my final map. I'm trying for a spooky and chilling atmosphere, with a fairly original setting... an abandoned campground. There are some dark secrets that haunt the campground, but you'll have to go searching to discover what happened here. Partly inspired by Reclusion by Sprial and They Hunger for Half-Life.

[http://wehlema.mystarband.net/camp1.jpg] There are many cabins that are scattered around the grounds.

[http://wehlema.mystarband.net/camp2.jpg] That's the flag pole to the right if you can't tell. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif] The mountains are kinda bright, so I'll fix that.

I wouldn't want to shower in there.

Sorry about the dark screens... I did some really fast lighting so it would be partly ready. Comments, praise, suggestions?

Feels very Evil Dead. That's a compliment.

Any way to make the fire a fullbright sprite?
If it breaks, you get to keep both pieces.

Looks pretty cool so far.
I have only one major suggestion. Replace all lighting with dynamic lighting, that way the 3do's will be lit better and it'll look even more moody.
And you can if you like add flickering and fading to the lights.
I also hope you have some creepy sound effect or music (or both) running, because they would do the level lots of good.

This is seriously one of the coolest levels I have EVER seen for JK. Awesome job.

I hate it when JK doesn't include 3do's in the lighting. GAH.

However, that looks good otherwise. Reminds me of one of the coolest Shadow Warrior-maps ever, and that's very good thing.

The mountains need some work, but otherwise it looks good.

Two suggestions: First, the TV in the admin building should have static playing on it, like in The Ring.

Second, get rid of those awful-looking chairs.

All in all, it looks really cool. I'll be d/l'ing this one for sure.

Old aunts used to come up to me at weddings, poking me in the ribs and cackling, telling me, "You're next." They stopped after I started doing the same thing to them at funerals.

Thanks for all of the nice comments. A couple questions though:

The mountains are 3DOs placed outside the actual level. Because of that, I can't adjust the ambient light for that object, so it makes them really bright. Anyone know a work around other than creating sectors for the objects to reside in?

Also, would you guys want scary music in the background? I already got some ambient sounds such as crickets and wolf howls that play randomly.

For your mountains, maybe darken the textures if nothing else?

Looks really good, though the things in the level should be darker when you finish -- they're too bright.

And also, there are a number of ways to get fully-lit sprites, the easiest editing the "extralight" value in the .spr file.

------------------
for(i = 0; i < 00; i = i + 1) Print("massassi is good");
PrintInt(i); //print the integer value of infinity
May the mass times acceleration be with you.
