Wacom drawing tablet in PhotoShop. About 4 or 5 hours that I should have spent trying to figure out how I'm going to pay my rent next week.
(first version, link left here for comparison, update below)

I havn't started on the background yet, which is why it's still black. The characters are basically finished, although I think I'll fix the saber blades on the Sith. They don't quite look right. And right leg on the Jedi doesn't look quite right either.. I'll fix that too.

Um, suggestions for the background, please? Any ideas on where these guys are having their stand-off? I was thinking somewhere dark and windy.. Geonosis, maybe?

Uh..yeah. Thanks. Or something.

You could always pay for your rent by selling this to random people on the street. Art doesn't need to be finished to make money. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

As for a background, perhaps an abandoned/ruined city on Tatooine at night. Nearly destroyed buildings, debris everywhere. It would be a mystery as to wether the jedi destroyed the city or if it was like that when they arrived.

The Jedi on the left has unnaturally long legs.
I bet you think that's funny, don't you.

The guy with the green saber must have either a really crooked chest, or really long arms and legs. If you look, his legs arent lined up with his chest, and they are wayyyy to long. Other then that nice.

Bingo. He is supposed to have his foot on a rock, which is why he looks strange, because there's no indication of this in the image.
And just to make you all look silly, here's the original rough that I did of the Jedi.

And thankyou to the two people that actually returned suggestions for the location. The rest of you can go to hell. Except for Ford, because he could see how the Jedi was standing.

I love how we're being told to go to hell for constructively pointing out that there might be problem with your drawing. The left leg of the green-sabered Jedi does look much too long. I can see the right leg being rested on a rock, though.

As for a location, high in the mountains would seem to fit. It looks like they're on a slope of some sort and it is windy out. If that doesn't seem to work, a desert setting with them standing on a mound of some sort.

Uhm, Gandalf, I think he was being sarcastic.

I'd place them on two rooftops with a gap between the two.

And the link in your sig, to the scrapware manifesto, did you co-write that?

No.. I just think it's a fantastic read.

The "go to hell" comment was not in relation to the comments made about the Jedi's legs. I had asked for suggestions on location ideas, and only Asp and Vezril had responded with this. Hence my displeasure with responses, as all I wanted was location ideas for the picture.

I welcome all constructive criticism, however the left leg of the Jedi is not too long. And I provided a reference shot of the Jedi drawn without the robe to show this clearly. My own comment about the right leg not looking right was referring to the positioning of the foot.

As you can see in the follow shot, everything is fine.

I like the high moutains idea. Perhaps putting the Sith on top of some old brick steps, in a sort of ancient ruins style environment.

I think the problem with the Jedi is it seems he has little to no torso. If you look at his left leg, it goes up very far and it doesn't seem like it's even getting to the point of turning into his hip yet. It is just a leg that goes forever. Currently it looks like he might just have a head, arms, a small ball or something for a torso, and legs. Maybe if you make the left leg get a bit thicker twoards the top it would look a bit better. Also, the sith's cloak should not also be brown, i recommend a black or maybe a dark red. But definatly have a difference between their cloaks. Finally, the setting I think would be cool atop an ancient sith-like ruined temple.

Tweaked the legs. Anyone who still thinks they look wrong, I'm going to hurt you.

I'm not going to change the color of the Sith's robe. I quite like it how it is. But I think I will change the color of his lightsaber. Red is so over-done.

I think I'll go with the ancient temple ruins idea. I quite like that one. Ouh.. time to get that old artistic licence of mine out of hiding.

Nah don't change the Sith's blade color. Red is the signature of the Sith. What other colors? Orange? Purple? Yellow? Red just goes with the notion of being a Sith.

Well it's your art but you traditionally a sith is a dark character. Someone who lusts for evil and murder. However, with the brown cloak you gave him, not to mention MATCHING the jedi's brown cloak, makes the sith seem less evil, and almost innocent. Maybe at least give his cloak some tears and rips if you arn't going to change the color? Somehow he just doesn't look menacing enough right now...
