I haven't worked on it for a while, but I'm finishing up Phoenix Suburban City SE. New features include nearly every texture replaced with a 16-bit counterpart, driveable vehicles, new buildings/areas, new secrets, a completely overhauled day/night system, etc.

Right now, I'm not so sure about finishing it... there's a lot of glitches to fix and there's not too much new about it. Would you guys be willing to download this if you had the original? What features would you like in this SE?

More rooftop Access. More rooftop realism, with fans, air ducts, etc sticking up at the top of a building. BREAKABLE GLASS IN THE WINDOWS. Every single window should be breakable. Also, figure out a way to make the map work better with SSRPro4000. Lighting change when you open the shades in the hotel rooms. Locks on doors. Some more detail in the weapon sales place, it's just unrealistic in compairison to the rest of the city. A reason to go into the sewers. Gas chambers. Jail. Bar/Nightclub or something similar. More darkness, and secluded places for sniping. Allow TVs to be turned on, and to make ambient noise. More grates that can be exploded to get to secret areas. Like, explosive doors that are otherwise locked, etc. A Mansion, to finish off the whole matrix fun of this level. That's all I got for now, but trust me: There's a whole group of people that LOVE the level, but we don't play it a lot because of all the bugs it causes with most mods, especially SSR. We'd really appreciate an updated version.

I couldn't really think of anything to begin with, but after Kirby's post, that's what I would've ended up with after awhile.

It's a great level, and expanding on it like he suggested would only make it better.

Driveables in JK MP? I haven't heard this boast since the Jurassic Park TC... I need to see it to believe it. (screens would suffice)

Grissy, there's that DOTR hideaway map or whatever. It has drivable vehicles although they do go really high up after a while.

Oh and move one of the two vending machines to another building XD If either of the two companies would see vending machines of their nearest rifle standing together they'd be mightily pissed. XD

Oh wait... I'm going crazy: I've had driveable vehicles for JK on my PC for ages, and I've even fiddled with the code. :S

Whoah! We had vehicles in JPTC? I thought we never got beyond the planning stage.

Anywho, I live in Phoenix, and it doesn't look like that.

Can you please make it so mods work with it? Disregard kirb's post about making it work better with SSRPro4000, because it never worked in the first place. A few of us would connect to the game and it would be like playing the game by ourselves, cept the doors wouldn't open.

People calm down... driveble veichles aint such a big thing, me and PJB were once working on a huge RPG project where you were gonna be able to drive ships around the city and so on... it has been seen around at many times so dont belive its such a big deal. anyway what you need is some AI's!

Whoa !!! [http://forums.massassi.net/html/eek.gif] - I wondered when you mentioned a long time ago that you were thinking of doing a "phoenix city: SE" level how it could be improved from the original (which was superb in my humble opinion - maybe I'm biased though Whelly... [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif])

As much as breakable glass would be a nice touch, you'd have to weigh up wether or not the client/server lag would be worth it. Being a cogger by nature, I'm obviously interested in the claim of driveable vehicles (as I think is just about everyone else that still edits JK [http://forums.massassi.net/html/redface.gif])

I agree with kirby with regard to giving the player a reason to go into the sewers - although they were very nicely designed, other than a quick escape via the showers [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]. As far as more rooftop access goes, well that implementation depends solely on whether or not you're hitting the adjoin limit - I personally would sacrifice less rooftop access for a level without HOM anyday.

A bar/nightclub would also be a great addition - the sort of Deus Ex feel to the nightclubs would be excellent, IMHO [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

Other than that, I look forward to any further expansion for this level - it rocked originally but to hear that there's more work going into it... [http://forums.massassi.net/html/eek.gif] /me holds breath [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

Keep up the excellent work - and if you happen to need a beta-tester... *cough*hint*cough* [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

Thanks guys for the comments and suggestions.

I don't see why you guys are so surprised about vehicles. If any of you have played DOTR Hideaway S.E., that's the cog I'm going to be using. But right now, driving around is really glitchy. I might have to exclude it.

If you guys want mods to work, I'd have to take out the day/night system. If there's enough demand for mods over day/night cogs, I'll take it out.

And for the record, Phoenix Suburban City does not take place in the REAL Phoenix City. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]

Nice work. As a solution for the mod problem and the day night cogs, I would recommend releasing two versions of the level, one with "mod support" and one without. The one without would include the day/night thing, while the other one wouldn't. I doubt people would have a problem getting both.

About the one without the day/night thing, do you think it'd work if it wasn't automatic? As in, would it work if to change the time and such you used a switch?

Catsby applauds Whelly and says that the textures are very good for JK.

Catsby says that the rooms need some lighting and points out that everything just looks wrong when it's fully lit.

Catsby recognises the washing machine texture as being from Max Payne and points out that you should not take textures from other games.

There was a Max Payne Texture Pack released once, and the textures are free to be used in any game. Just get the disclaimer of it.

In that case, Catsby would like to apologize for accusing Whelly of taking textures.
