middle 'pod' that connects the 3 cell block corridors, and the door to the rest of the base

inside a cell. it has working switches for the ceiling lights, and the reading light on the bed. toilet flushes as well, and yes, thats a mirror above the sink.(oh, and i already talked about this with gris, but dont say the toilet should be more complex. if you look at the evolution of toilets on earth, they're getting more and more simple. plus... it's a friggin prison. if you had to crap on that, it might be some persuasion to get whatever info they need from you out [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif])

the key box in the in the middle of the middle 'pod'. (normally has those ribbed metal guards up, but this is when they are down) you need to kill the janitor (sent into your cell to fix the toilet) to get the key to access this box, then free your fellow prisoners from their cells, and take over the prison complex.

(also, 99% of the textures used in this map are made by mslaf... guess you could say his textures inspired me to make an imperial SP level)

Assuming the lighting is temporary, and you'll add some more contrast architecture/texturewise, and some more detail, it's pretty okay.

SP level! Wow, that's certainly good news! I like the architecture. It certainly brings a prison into your mind with the gray dullness, and simple functionality. Yet the necessary details are in place, like the toilet equipment, which certainly increases the credibility a lot.

The one thing I don't like are those locks. They stand out really bad and look blocky. I think they might look a lot better, if you shaped small recesses in the walls. The recesses would be as deep as those locks, but just a little bit wider, like 1 or 2 map units, so that there would be a gap between the sides of the recess and the that lock model. Maybe you could also clip the recess sides a little slanted.

I really like it. The only thing I think you need is a better lock prefab.

Seriously, it doesn't look like JA, to me. It looks like a newer, fancier engine. The lighting needs a little work, though.

yeah... i know... i hate the locks, too, but its the only way i know of to be able to use keys to unlock doors without scripting. i tried scaling it down(which could have helped them not stand out as much, but i think if they werent all so much brighter than the rest of the map, that would help(still dont know why they do that)), but i guess scaling doesnt work on all "misc_" stuff.

unless... someone knows some scripting and could take the same entity info from a misc_security_panel and make a new script with a func_lock or something that make selected brushes act as security panels... then i could make custom ones.

nice. Does the map have a torture/interrogation room?

BTW, the sink doesn't look too effective. Any water would simply run off and flood the cell. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif] At least add a negative poly that extrudes into the sink to make a basin.

oh... heh... yeah now that i look at it, the sink does look flat. it's not, though. its more apparent imgame, because you can see the drain in the middle if you walk close up to it. i might change the texture for the release...

oh, and, no theres no interrogation on this level. this part is just for holding. from here you make your way across an ANH (the luke and leia rope swing)-like bridge crossing, except this time the bridge will work, but stormies from other bridges on other levels shoot at you. from there you and the others get into the armory and such then take it over.

I can't help but wonder what passes thru that pipe in pic# 2 and why it has make that "U" detour.

But it looks cool tho. The architecture is quite simple, but thass not necessarily a bad thing.

Now that you say it's supposed to be SW... I've got a million gripes. It doesn't feel SW at all. Especially not THAT detention block.

it's not the ANH detention block... not even on the death star for that matter.

oh, and halucid, it's like a metal tube that has electrical wires, cold and hot water lines inside it... stuff like that to each of the cells.

It has a very movie-like appeal, and stands out to me as almost realistic. I love the architecture, and the simple little details that you see in each part. It really gives it a prison-esque feel. Props.

what happens if the master key (that opens the key storage unit) accidentally gets locked in with the others?

im sure they have more than one key in an entire imperial base that opens the key box, or the button to press or cable to cut to turn off power to the locks on the box's doors. but yeah. it's star wars. doesnt have to make complete sense [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

alrighty, updates. got the main design of the bridge area built:

right outside the cell block:

so the 'puzzle' in this area is that right as you open the door, a stormie shoots the control on your side of the bridge. so you have to use the consoles(well, big computer-ey box things, whatever) on the walls to climb up to another bridge and get to the other side where you activate the other side's bridge control and let the other prisoners to the other side.

Hey, man, you are spoiling too much of the plot and puzzles here! You should be more careful. You know people will read your wise words no matter what, so it's no use saying "don't read". You must not write so much about it.

You may want to think about adding a little color, especially in the chasm 'n' bridges room. It looks too grey. I know Imperial things are supposed to have plenty of grey, but this s too much. Other than that, it looks good. Oh, and those bridges need rails.

I like this project. You have a very consistent style here. The architecture is quite functionalist, yet very distinct. Of course the texture set is a part of that. I think this will be a great level, if you also remember to keep in mind to pay due attention to the plot behind everything and environmental interaction.

The armory might be needlessly wide. It might look better and less bare if you halved the width. Now there's a lot of empty floor.

That looks quite excellent. I think the level of color is perfect now. I hope it comes out soon. I'm not a very big fan of multiplayer.

Wow, I can't imagine the use of a dark prison block. That's like asking for people to escape.

Oh, and your patches are full of lighting seams. Try merging them.
