Yes, we moved back over to the Quake 3 engine because the ET engine was a little.....well....funky, in a bad way.

Shouldn't Q3 be dirt cheap now anyway? I wouldn't know, I haven't gone to buy a game in over a year.

It might be old, but it happens to be one of the best editing engine, next to Half-Life. Just look at all the games and mods that have been made from it, including Jedi Outcast/Jedi Academy. They were both built up using the Quake 3 engine, but putting in their own additions.

One can easily be deceived to think those were real microuzis. How do you do it? Wait no...don't tell me. I wouldn't comprehend it. Q3 is old though. I hear UT2K4 is supposed to be editor friendly.

Although Q3 might be old, I would love to get the source code. I don't care for the entire Q3 game code just the engine...mmmm *drools*

QBismFusion -- Quake 2 based, so it's open source, but now is updated to use md3 models and read Q3 bsps. Basically could be considered a clone.

YUMMEH COOKIES AND MILK!!! :P

The thing about using the Quake 2 source code and making something with it is that the license says you need to destribute the source to the project you made off of that source code, enableing anyone to use it if they felt like it. Thats why I dont use it :/

Because I was given the mod to take over after the origonal mod team died. I was a lead modeler for them but went abesent, and when I came back it was pretty much dead, and they asked me so yeah..

Maybe you shouldn't be so abscent anymore...

The Q3 engine really is the way to go, since there are no suprises, and the engine has been modded to death. Let the pioneers of other engines make mods and fail, so that you don't have to make their mistakes with a project that's already been going nice and strong. In the meantime, mod for an engine which is lacking in no resources, and is simply a matter of learning.

Im sticking with Quake 3. Most of my team are Quake 3 familiars, especially the mappers, so im not gonna go to another engine and let go a bunch of people :/

Doesn't look realistic... but close O_o

[edit]Quake3 engine is still the most efficient to date... but if you DID go with another game engine... I'd use Farcry, Farcry has a speedy engine, a nice map editor, and is said to be "the easiest game to mod".[/edit]
