The second is very nice from a design standpoint... the curvature of the line between positive and negative space dilutes the harshness of the contrast between them.

The first however... It's quite... linear? One of the biggest composition no-nos (I'm sure you already know this) is a setup with a vertical or horizontal line in the middle of the page. You didn't exactly do that, but it's still not as visually interesting as a canted/banked shot would have been, or one with some other angle (other than 90 degrees) between the camera and the wall. What is the object in the middle-right section? I can't really tell...

It's a transformer that I found forgotten on the ground. I just liked the 'abandoned toy' feeling of it all.

While the second pic is nice, I actually like the first one more. The grass especially gives it a depressing feeling, but I'm not sure about 'abandoned toy'. Maybe if it were clearer exactly what that object is...

The first one keeps my eyes moving. I think that's a good thing.

The first one is a tad too dark. Maybe you should've taken it at a different time of day, or from a different angle.

Brilliant, i gotta say the second is my favorite. Are you making your own prints? Any after print digital modifications? What kind of camera are you using? Film Speed?
