Very nice. But even if JED was the creator, some how I don't think it's the render lol. What is the render for that gun btw?

Wow, thats a great looking model. And if Ruth made a high poly gun for JK you should to. hmmmm.... if the models can look this good, how good can the player models and maps look.

Yep, it goes JED -> 3DO Converter (to .obj) -> Bryce 4 for rendering.

Sure, I'll texture it for JK, just, I'm not too good at putting weapon models in JK.

And this goes to prove the fact that JED is by far the best modeling program, ever.

... or it could be that RingMaster481 just might be an exceptionally skilled modeller.

I'm not bashing JED, I love it and use it all the time, however in the words of the man in MysteriousSith's sig: "The quality of the levels you make is determined by the skill of the person not by the editor in which they use!"

Please... Someone buy these people 3D Studio Max. If you guys would mod for modern games we would love you! JK is 7 years old for crying out loud! But modles rock so much though, if you put them in a modern game they would look amazing! Buy 3D S max!
2004-07-03, 7:25 AM #23
Uh... Why do you people exsist? 3DSMax doesn't equal great models. Neither does JED mean JK. You can make amazing models in JED and import them for any game you can imagine.

Not to mention, 3DSMax is bloody 35000 dollars, and isn't really worth all that money.

And finally, JK is still fun, why do you have to try and convince everyone it isn't?

I trhink you mean $3,500, not $35,000. You could get a good car for that.

However, I totally agree with the latter. THis iste was founded in Jedi Knight, not JO/JA. Just because it's old doesn't suddenly decrease the fun factor. I find it impressove and enjoyable to see people such as Clan Ruthervain and this guy transform an old game to the point where it's almost comparable with the last few years.

We should never completely abandon Massassi's roots - they may be old, but who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks.

It's only 300-400 dollars for a student license, probably less.

I got my copy of 3d Studio Max for free because someone felt I could use it, and I found some use for it...Using Brazil to render my models which I ALSO got for free from another friend [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif].

Even though I dont use 3dsmax to model doesnt mean that I cant do low poly models any better.

I have messed around with a copy of 3DS Max, but I'm just not liking the interface. With JED, I must keep all vertices aligned to the grid, or my model will come out with plenty of invalid surfaces and imperfections. JED is simple, and it does (almost) all I need for it to do without being annoying, or expensive. And please, don't say "That's good for JED." Criticize the model(s) as if it were made in 3DS Max, or whatever program you seem to think makes a modeller superior.

It's more a more powerfull tool, it's only 1000$ USD, And no matter what you do to it the NPC and player modleds look terrible. I'm just saying that a whole lot more people would benefit from your work if you did more modern games. All of 150 people still play JK today. It had it's time but it's finily time to move on. Don't be like those people still moding DF1...

Obi, I'd like you to read my last post and take it to heart. Yah, the one with the quote. Good, now read it again. Ok good. Now ever think that a 15 year old might not have a spare $1000 to throw away on a program he doesn't necessarily like?

Tomorrow I think I'll start skinning this for JK to get this thread back on track, but that doesn't mean that I won't skin it for anything else.

Obi, I've had Max for a while, and lemme tell you something. A [relatively] good modeling program does not make the owner a better modeler. I can make some cool stuff with it, yeah, but nothing as good as this. Bravo RingMaster.
