It's a landing platform roughly based on the one seen in Return of the Jedi, It's still a WIP, and since the elevator i put in to take the screenshot does not have call button to call it back to the top... This is all i have so far, more screens when I get some more work done.
UPDATED PICS
These shots are just shots of what i've been doing so far, archi wise. I still intend to add an ATAT docking port thing on the left leg and possibly make the passages seem less boxy and open them up with some windows. Once i figure it out, terrain is going to go in and once i get a decent skybox, it'll have a forest/jungle theme.

I've taken the lighting out and done a regular bsp so you can see the stuff... textures are not final.

To do list...
-add crates and junk to right platform for more challenging duels.
-add guide and landing lights around the side of the platform
-get a custom shader for the sky, I want a jungle at twilight, lit moslty by the platform lights.
-speaking of which, add supports to the "floating" lights.
-add a better elevator to the legs with a call button at top and bottom.
-find some tree's and surround the pad with it to box it in for the duels.
-find out how to do terrain so it's not flat on the ground
- work on what do do with the other leg... cargo holds? repair bay for smaller ships?
- add ATAT dock ports on the sides, with possibliity of having an ATAT in the map
-get creative, possibly add a flight contorl room between the legs.

anywho.. suggestions? close ups of the pad from ROTJ? it's mostly just my imagination and remembering from the movie, so it's not really ment to be an accurate represantation of the movie.

It's much to early for any suggestions. No offense but when the shot first loaded I thought it was JK :P

Get alot of that stuff off the to-do list then post some pics.

when I get the platform the way I want it, I'll find some better textures. JA does not seem to have the textures i want.

I'll be adding custom textures for sure, the platform will have a landing pad look to it with a + sign for the pads and an imperial logo in between pads.

the way i understood your post is that u couldnt take a ss from the top coz the elevator didnt work? just go into the console and type in no_clip and fly about to take a better shot...as for wot Z@NARDI said , i agree...i thought it was jk at first too. it has potential, just keep working at it.

Many of the textures are over-repetitive, and the ground is flat. Try Easygen and some tutorials to make the ground more realistic, and maybe add some fog to make the sky a null point, while giving it a sense of imperial evil. Also, you may want to at least add some kind of elevator, not even working, that provides access to a base of some sort; there has got to be a reason for it to exist. Curves and detail are points that I won't even start on.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I'm making it a duel map, possibly a power duel, but I may decide to eventualy put a large satalite dish in the backgaround to make it seem like endor kinda.

The boxyness will be worked on as I get some more angled bruhes i there, Also got some better lights, Just need to get them spot light like and make it glow...

Trust me, Once i get a skybox and some tree's and stuff it'll look better, new skybox in in the hunt.

How do you get crates? did raven just use the crate textures on square brushes? or are they actual entities.

I managed to get a few more screens, but i gtg, more later.

I took that screen before the elevator was installed and the only way to get to the bottom was to jump off the edge...so...

anywho... how do you make terrain? I still have not figured that part out, can you gimme some links or tutorials?

a few more images... The lights are just to test it... the skybox will eventualy be alot lighter... possibly bespin like as it seems rather morninish... need to find a skybox that suits my needs.

I'm working on lighting in the rest of the map, the ground will be lit with some lamps placed down there and so on... It's my second map so i'm learning lots of tricks and stuff...

How do you make terrain and how would I get lights ontop of those poles? the duel map "taspir" used something I assume was Null's with some settings set to glow...

For terrain, use Easygen. Tutorials can be found on the same page.

As for the question on getting lights on top of those poles, I don't quite know what you are saying. Do you mean it emits light, a glow, a flare, etc.? Explain.

A tip: Showcase things when they're ready to be showcased.

The second set of shots look better, but it's still too clunky.

Take a look at the Star Wars mod for UT2k3. There was a nice version of the ILP in there.

Boxy, and the textures are over-repetitive. Also, add more detail, like some boxes lying around or some fuel stations refilling the shuttle.

if you ignored the early pic at the top and read the content, thats on my to do list. Right now i'm working on getting terrain... I can't seem to make a height map properly that will go around the one leg of the tower like i want it to.

The second platfom thats currently empty will have crates scattered about and stuff.

boxy archi? last time i checked... Things are not all curves and pretty surfaces... we do tend to use boxy archi in life... but like i said in my first post, it's being worked on.

This is the main part of the Shield Generator Facility that Vader lands on when he is greeted by a group of Imperial soldiers that have captured Skywalker. There was an AT-AT walking around it in a circle.

updated pics at the top, I took the lighting out to show what i've done with the platform, Will work on lighting once i get the interior finished and the elevators working.

as for zell not understanding what I ment about the lights... take a look at the screens below, How do i make lights like that for my landing pad's roof?

There should be a texture folder that says flares.
