This is my latest creation --- my first attempt at modeling a realistic human body in Wings 3d. You are looking at about a week's worth of work.

The model is made up of separate meshes, and the joints are pretty much what you would find on a JK 3do. I'm still working on the legs and hands b/c they still don't look quite right IMO.

The model is gold-plated right now b/c iu haven't made skin textures for it yet.

I plan to animate it at some point, but here's the model:

The model has no schlong b/c I didn't know whether it would violate forum rules or not.

Try as they might, university administrators couldn't find the server. Working with Novell Inc., IT workers tracked it down by meticulously following cable until they literally ran into a wall. The server had been mistakenly sealed behind drywall by maintenance workers.

a 10 pack?

and the hands are just circles. But good work.

I made a thread, that turned into the debate, so I made a second thread, that turned into a debate, then I made a third thread, that caught on fire, burned down, got flamed, crapped on, bashed, then turned into a debate...but the fourth one, the fourth one stayed on topic!
Think while it's still legal.

The model looks MUCH better with clothes.

I did more work and this one kind of resembles smith. It's definitely not box-office cinema quality, but i'm getting better.

It still has a plastic-y look, but more work with the textures should take care of that.

I've figured out how to do hair and still have a fast render-- you just put a few meshes on top of the head and position them to look like the style you want, and then texture them to look like hair. The effect is horrible on close-up shots, but it looks okay on stuff that isn't too close.

...Maybe he looks like plastic because he shines, and there are no connecting joints on the opposable limbs, they just... go in toward the middle.
DO NOT WANT.

It's an Agent Smith action figure! If thats what you were shooting for, you nailed it. Otherwise, yer gunna need to take some anatomy lessons.

well, I tried.

I'll probably get better at it after I build a few more of these from scratch.

hands are hard, b/c we all know what hands look like, so its dificult to make them look convincing, the same thing with joints.

The forearm and hands are too big, and the arms aren't long enough.

No kidding! (seriously, I know what you mean)

Not bad for something from scratch. Though I have to agree that it does look more like an action figure than a real person.
One thing I can suggest for sure though is that he needs a little more neck (or at least a collar or something -- it looks a little short to me); or maybe it's the tie going all the way up out of view without seeing any of the knot?

In any case, good work so far.

for getting the proportions right you could pick up one of those little artists mannequins from any art/stationary shop to copy.

Other than the face I'd say that he's suffering from a case of Ecstatica-esque character design
You seem a bit dependent on constructing from stretched spheres and cobbling them together. You should try stretching individual vertexes and cleaving new grids.

For the muscle groups, google for Greg Loomis books. He has some really good books, many of which have been scanned, on how to draw humans of different shapes and sizes.

Very good for a first attempt, although I couldn't help but laugh at that last pic because he looks like he's going to have an Incredible Hulk moment, and burst out of his clothes. Very good though, honestly - I agree, he does look like an Agent Smith action figure. I also think he is a bit too rounded, I'd take Daeron the Nerfherder's advice.
