And you might want to curve the blade a tiny tad more.

-Way too big
-I dont dig the hilt
-Should be curved slightly if its a Samurai katana
-Th blade texture's tip should curve with the model's tip. Also the texture should look me steel than monochrome.
-Needs some flare... like Japanese designs or lettering... to make it unique
-If I were you I'd make new character model with a sheath, too. It shouldn't be hard to to make a new key sheathing and drawing.

Accually, it doesn't have to be curved, since the word katana is a reference to the blades length. A katana is more then ~2 feet (2 somethings, theres a japanese measurement), shorter is a wakizashi, and less then ~1' has a different name also. Theres a whole seperate naming for the curvature of the blades. So that is still a kanata, if abit to big overall and the blade alittle to wide from edge to back.

He said "samurai katana"...and he's right, they are always curved. The ninjas usually carried straight katanas with quadratic guards, though, so the model is actually correct.

And btw, samurai weapons blade lengths (guidelines):
- Katana, more than 20"
- Wakizashi, between 10" and 20"
- Tanto, less than 10"
