Wow, I didn't know SAJN did any editing but that is good stuff. The first glance I had at it I didn't think it looked like snow but now it looks fabulous.

As a Canadian, i can verify that the first pic is snow (and pretty damned-realistic snow at that), but the red X doesn't quite seem to work. still, i supose it tiles well [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif].

*edit: i see that its fixed now. both look real... and the same... just resized.

The problem with photorealistic textures is that they don't always look that great in-game.

Not really. I did it the lazy way, I took piece of the image, put them on each side then made the edges transparent so it fits right into the rest of the image.

The top one tiles all right. The bottom one, doesn't tile quite nicely.

The snow would look better w/o the clumps in them. Make it more like a fresh snowfall. That snow looks like it has been trampled upon or otherwise disturbed. Unless this is intended for a ski resort.

If anyone could do like Thrawn did for me above, and just put the 512x512 texture on some random piece of terraign? I want to see how it looks in game.

A bit less bumpy, but also a bit less realistic. It should look nice in game though.

Never seen snow??? WTF
Snow is cool (really its cool and cold) because you can put a big wall of snow in the front of all the doors and windows in a house (and wake up early) and then they completely pannic. Its so cool they were screaming, called the firedepartment: There is a snow blizzard.
