...A while back, Ruthven asked if it were possible to light the second level of the mod dynamically. After playing around with the light for a bit, I determined that it was not possible to make it look decent enough to be worth it.

A few weeks ago, I came up with an idea of how to fix the problem with having single source dynamic lights for large open levels. I decided to test it out on the sg1 mod level 2, first and these are it's initial results:

By the way people, take a look at the glare on the gun. Notice any *coughrbgcough*? Dynamically Colored. Now I just have to figure out how to get him to tell me how he did it.

Nice waterfall. I have some ideas for lighting that might help, if I can only get some time to put a level together as an illustration.

But it's dynamic sector tint, actually. So, in reality, dynamic colored lighting. In JK.

Nope. Currently, the skydome is the light source.

Irrelevant. I can use a cog to change the sector tint, thereby changing the color of the dynamic light. If it weren't for the fact that the evironment is completely made of 3do's, with 3d accel. enabled, you would hardly tell the difference if the sector tint was changed. In fact, that is the hart of the day-night system I'm working on right now. I don't have to worry about switching models to ones with night-time textures, all I have to do is have a cog adjust the EXTRA LIGHT value and the sector tint accordingly.

Actually, with all of the nice dust effects aaron's made, I don't think convincing mist will be a problem at all, really.
