It's not ironic! It's coincidental! Gah!

Gonk - If you make more maps like this I may have to go pick up Ut2k4.

Love the skybox. Is that custom or did it come with the game?

It's custom, but probably not how you'd imagine. Its essentially what would be referred to as a portal sky in the Q3 engine. I have a box off to the side with stars plastered on all 6 sides, and then a bunch of static meshes oriented around the camera. So the planet, moon, and distant sun (although you can only really see the planet in the screens) are meshes, as is the fogring (which hides the pop-up of stuff beyond the opaque of the level's fog), etc.

The great thing about that is that it provides an easy way to make a good looking custom skybox. The bad thing is you have to hunt through the BILLIONS of disorganized packages just to find what you're looking for. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

More ONS-Aridoom than anything.

You make it look too easy! I love the technique UT uses to make the "skyboxes"... the result is always unique and much more realistic.

Anyway, I'm really trying to get into this editor. The way you made the skybox sounds interesting, ill have to give it a try.

Great work though.

If you're planning on getting into the editor I _HIGHLY_ recommend you pick up the DVD Edition. The tutorials on the bonus disc are invaluable. Also, Architectonic's tutorials are also quite good. There's one in there that explains the concept of skyboxes VERY well.

Yea, I have the DVD edition, the video classes come in handy. The one thing that I'm still not sure how to create are my own static meshes, but I will look at those tutorials you linked me.
thanks [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

Meshes are just models imported into a .usx package. Any semi-decent modelling package should be capable of making one.

Looks wonderful! The bridge in particular really appeals to me. I haven't played UT2k4 since their MSUC contest ended in May (and I was bitter I couldn't complete my entry in time and went back to JA). Are these mostly your original static meshes I see in these shots?
