While we've minimized the lag in MP, we're having a couple small crashing issues that are being dealt with, so it's not stable enough for an MP beta. Thus, a video will show off our sexy explosion sprites, models, animations, and cog work.

A smallish update.

Kirby finished the Wookie Bowcaster model today. I rendered it. The results are below. I'm reasonably sure he'll be by later to fill in a few more details. All I'm doing is posting the pictures.

I was going to render them with a different material other than the default gray, but Bryce was claiming that would take about twice as long. I didn't want to wait.

This is, probably, my most detailed model yet. it's 3408 polygons, and it's my cleanest mesh yet. I did a plugin-cleaner, and it deleted a whopping 2 surfaces. Not that Phoenix is a bad renderer, but still shots don't do the model justice. I actually sent him the models simply because it's 10x sexier to rotate it in realtime :-P

A shot of one of the playermodels comes later tonight.

Note that the head behind the helmet will change, and that helmet isn't meant for that armor, it's just what's currently done.

BTW, the body is the body for the heavy weapon's expert, while the helmet is for the scout. Both the scout body and the weapon expert head should be somewhat completed tomorrow, and more posts will be made, then.

Very nice, but it would be very painful to hold and handle on the bowcastor. Everything else just looks great.

That's the way the gun is designed. The model you see up there is almost quite literally a computer generated version of the bowcaster seen the Essential Guide to Weapons and Technology. There are a few very minor differences, but that's exactly what it looks like.

So to better answer your post, I don't think it'd be painful to hold at all.

I agree though, that it looks painful, but it's IDENTICAL to the reference. Like, I turned it and lined it up with the 3D image, and it's exact.

The Wookie Bowcaster, excellent!!!

I like how the model is working for the character, especially the helmet. It may be at too early a stage to comment, but I'd play with the textures to get a more realistic effect. The textures look like they're 8 bit? As you know, texturing can make or break the model! Even adding a slight noise filter, or an blending in an overlay layer on multiply(such as burlap/sandstone) would give it "TEXTURE", rather than flat old colours. There's a difference between 'cartoon shading/colouring book' and 'texture' [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif] I hope that helps things out. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

I love seeing other people's modelling/texturing work, great motivation to work on my own [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

Beta testing will be internal. Only members of UR will get to test the mod. I'm positive on this part. As to if Massassi will ever get to actually see and play a finalized version... Kirby has that answer.

Somewhat correct, phoenix. Massassi will see the weapons, and that's it. UR will get the entire MP experience. Once the MP mod for UR has been completed, the SP mod will be released containing some of the MP levels converted to SP.

I believe it was only for the Auras, and they just made the texture rotate and look like the whole thing was spinning.
