I redo model of gun

I had an mp5k model for a long time and, of course, thats like everyones favorite smg, so I decided redo it, adding some details, and retexturing it. Here is mp5k
[http://img50.exs.cx/img50/8766/mp5kside.jpg]
it's textures are a little grainy but, for some reason, the jpeg compression made it look worse like concrete.

I know there isn't a real muzzle and the barrel on an mp5k isn't really that big, but I always exagerate the barrels so you can actually see where the bullets come out when it's fired ingame.

Cool, but the different parts don't look seperated enough from each other. It gives it a melted, or maybe die-cast look. And methinks the barrel is fugly when it's so long like that. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]

Banks and banks of humming machinery! I've never seen so many knobs. We're going to have to do something, Charlie! Try pushing that button there. No? How about that one? No, not that one either. I know! I'll try pushing this one. Hold my hat will you? Good fellow.

What program are you using to render it? Also what program used to jpeg it? If you're having trouble, try a different format than jpeg if possible, at least bmp won't compress it.

PNG and TIFF are lossless, I believe.

a_person , MP5K's usually don't have much variance in color... other than the rate of fire symbols which should be red.., sexy model btw Ace, as usual.

Needs more value in the skin. Lights and darks you know. Not just lots of midtones.

SURGEON GENERAL'S WARNING:
Using BMPs online is dangerous to your health, should The Mega-ZZTer spot you using them.

Seriously, You can do almost lossless JPEG compression... in Irfanview you just set the quality slider to 100%. And Irfanview can do lots of other file formats (including the other two common internet formats, GIF and PNG).

But please don't use BMP. BMP was never intended to be used as an internet media (I figure that 'cause the data is stored upsidedown [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]).

I find BMP only good because it doesn't use lossy compression, and because the file format is simple enough that I can program BMP writing routines easy.

For the internet, I use 8-bit PNG or GIF for images I know have less than 256 colors, so I get great compression. For other images I use JPEG with the quality at 100% in Irfanview, the files come out tons smaller and almost the same quality (I can't tell unless I zoom in).

updated, now ingame
[http://img18.exs.cx/img18/962/mp5kingame.jpg]
I like how it turned out so far because most of my model's textures look like plastic. I've also been experimenting with knockoverable objects in JK. It's still nothing compared to modern game physics, but it's better than nothing.

Model's great, but textures need to be much darker.

I think you all have been playing Doom3 too much... j/k

... BUT, the other levels besides my FULLY LIT DFLT box, of course will have dark places where you can witness its dark texturedness in all its glory

though I DID give the texture a little bit of a blue tint and only slightly darken it

I dunno what type of bullets that thing fires, looks too long for 9mm, looks too short for 5.57. So I'd check your proportions for the model, it really doesn't seem correct at all to me (and its not the barrel).

It s a small gun, but that barrel thing has to go...and the texture need some scrathches, or the safety label thing...
