Poor texture choices, and a very... closed in gameplay atmousphere. The archi could be a bit more elaborate, especially for the engine.

It looks great. It's... Doom 3!

But why is there a biohazard sign on an armory? Planning some new toxic sludge armor or something?
DO NOT WANT.

It looks awesome. I love what you did with the lighting--the cool, almost arctic tone that it gives everything. A very different approach as much of Doom 3's lighting is orange/red.

Anyone else think Doom 3 would make a great game/engine to develop a "The Thing" mod for/on?

"YOUR GAMEFLOW SUCKS" i know doesn't it? heh, gothix, that map i sent you was just a few rooms i was building - I'm actually devolping a start

Devolping more architecture isn't always the right way to go about things - besides, when was the last time you visited a base covered in architecture? It's a military installation, it's not made to be pretty, it's made to do a job. BUT.... i suppose a little more detail wouldn't hurt....

Umm, the guns are biohazards because they kill stuff..... I'll change that sign.

I'm lost on what to do with the ceiling, it's currently too dark to see but i'd like to light it up somehow to show some more detail like piping etc

any ideas to expand the roof

hanks for the feedback so far...

Archi doesn't need to be beautiful to be good. It needs to make sense. Currently, I'm not sure I understand why or what exactly is going on in your picture. Think in terms of conceptual design, rather than "what's cool?" design.

ok, i've been working a little on it, and I've added some nice little wall lights that point upwards (thanks for that idea gothix). I've Made those cynlynders (3,3) to stop them eating fps so much... and I'm currently trying to map some more corridors and comp areas. Anyone got any good stories that could involve this bunker-type-place and lots of bad guys? ;)

How about there are scientists working there on a very secret project, then suddenly the project goes haywire and demons start puring out of the project into every nook and cranny of the place?

...Oh, wait.
DO NOT WANT.

I was thinking of having a story along the lines of....

1. You are a researcher working a station on mars exploring gas treatment technology.
2. You hear about the other research facilities starting to get blown around.
3. Your facility goes on red alert
4. Your fellow scientists are slaughtered before your eyes
5. You rush to a security office and get loaded up with some marines
6. You have to escape the facility
7. You make it along the research facility and eventually into a life-pod
8. You have to defend the life pod while your marine friends charge up the engines....
9. You're all done. Mission Accomplished.

Anyone got any expansions to this idea?

Why are you, the scientist, defending the marines while they charge the engines? Shouldn't it be the other way around?
2004-09-25, 6:39 PM #21
Sounds good, just have, at the very end, one of the marines walk in in a cinematic, something like this.

Marine walks in with assault rifle in hand, looks around.
Sargeant: "Stand down marine, it's all clear."
Marine looks at him blankly for a moment.
Sargeant: "I said stand down marine!
Marine raises rifle
Sargeant: "Now what the he-"
Marine slaughters him, looks around wickedly.

well, maybe those "marines" are now "air marines"..... and maybe you won't be alone defending the pod.... :D

Dr Yoshi - will do.

While he's at it, he should add 10 more cliches.
Think while it's still legal.

Of course there are cliches there--that's how I expressed it. Everything's cliche, nowadays. It's how you express it.

Well yeh i suppose, But i could show it with slightly different wording and actions.... Or i could just have the mutant turning around and shooting the guy in the back of the head and an evil laugh sounding as some Imp's teleport in and head to earth....

That'd give such a good ending too...... hmmm I got this all planned out. I need some voice actors to say some stuff, if you're interested contact me on msn at 'oxyonagon at hotmail dot com'

Why does this sound so much like Half-Life: Blue Shift? Can anybody please tell me while this sounds so much like Half-Life: Blue Shift? You might want to add a scene with the player trapped in a falling elevator with two marines (ok, that would be too much of a ripoff)

Seriously though, it sounds pretty good. Unfortunately i can't think of anything worth adding at the moment. I'll get back to you if i do.
