Anyone Want to Pick up Where I Left off?

Well, since there have been an abundance of threads like this recently, I thought I’d showcase a few of my more than 100 Jedi Knight projects over a period of coming up to 3 years. None of them are lit unfortunately, so please, no “dude, those look horrible, you need lighting” comments, because I haven’t finished them and probably won’t.

Anyway, the point is, I’m not giving up on Jedi Knight editing, I just don’t have time for all these previous projects because either:

A) I was too ambitious.
B) I ran out of ideas.
C) I lost interest.

I usually stopped due to a combination of the 3, although “C” almost always took priority. Anyway, if anyone wants them, they’re welcome to them. :)

(Also, my latest level is still in production, and very near completion.)

First off, my dream baby that came so close to completion - CTF_Aqua I even had the whole thing diagrammed on paper :(

It was meant to be an underwater Imperial base built up arpund an ancient, abandoned Gungan temple. There was going to be a whole underwater section with coral, and fish, and a hidden conc. I haven't worked on this in over a year.

Next is Showdown - I barely started this level, but I liked the concept.

Finally, is Sanctus, an abandoned Egyotian temple. There were some other areas I worked on, but they weren't worth showing here. This level, also, barely got off the ground.

I just wish I'd submitted more stuff to Massassi. In all these years, nothing much very memorable, all because of my short attention span. :(

Yes, indeed. Very nice. Actually I think better than some of the one's you have finished. I'd be interested at taking a shot at them. Particularly that first one. I love those textures in the first shot.

If you could work on one map, it should be the first! The rest are great too.

My idea is you should make a small editng group and working those maps together. (with people you trust)

I will see what I can do with Showdown and Sanctus. I ahve a ton of code for something themed in the West, but I could never motivate myself to make a map for it. Please send them to grismath at gmail.

:eek::eek::eek:

I love all of these maps... in fact, I know these could be amoung the classics if you finish them. You have a great sense of detail and architecture, good texturing skill, and I can see you're quickly learning all the tricks and secrets that make a great level. I know just by what I've seen from your work that you have what it takes to be a phenominal editor... otherwise I seriously wouldn't have given your work nearly as much attention as I have... well, I think you would do yourself and injustice not finishing these maps.... here, have some inspiration:

For the underwater map, check out Nebula's MPL2 entry "Deep" ... which incidently is my favorite map evar... even tho it is all LEC textures.

For an Eqyptian theme, try NorthChaos's "Egypt" and Tee's "Necropolis"

All of these maps, and their authors, have been very inspirational to me... and I know you have what it take to surpass them.... well, maybe not Tee... he might be the best. ;) Anyway, I say you finish them.... but I'd be glad to help you on a creative standpoint... get you back on track and fill in some blanks. omg I see Dark Forces textures. Bad! :p

Other than that, these look awesome.

Those all look very nice, but they're all lacking a certain something I like to call lighting and 3DOs. The first is also mostly textures, wich is disapointing since at first I had expected it all to be archi.

Great starts, though.

Thankyou very much for the comments everyone, I had no idea people would think these levels were still worth pursuing. I will answer further questions and distribute the goods tomorrow..

Anyway, I'm afraid I've lost a couple of levels after erasing my harddrive, although I've still got Aqua. However, halucid inspired me to redo my Sanctus map, so here is the result of the last 4 hours of work:

Those recent shots are quite amazing. I suggest a light beam, and some torches. Maybe something like halucid's map.

Oh, and I gave the thing SotD, I'm not trying to piss on people's work. I simply refuse to type "omg best thing evar" and leave it at that. It's great, but that's already been said, so I decided to give constructive criticism; live with it.

Wow. wow wow wow. Those are awsome shots.
2004-09-27, 8:45 PM #21
Wow! I inspired that?? Honestly, I'm not too surprised... I knew since I saw yer 'Somnolence' screenshots all those months ago that you had this kind of potential. Keep it up, and never forget that no matter how good you get, you can only get better.

But anyway, focus on 'Sanctus'... you seem to have a good momemtum going there, and it would be a shame to see that in the 'unfinished' bin.... BTW, don't get cheap on the archi, like you did on those columns... ya could have easily made em round. You're better than that. ;)
