Well, the very first concept (around 1996), which was non-organic, was slightly inspired by an A-Wing. However, I think I've advanced far enough to call it original.

Very nice leathery texture.

Is the engine glow-lighting the rear a "forced" texture? It's so good looking I can't tell for sure. :)
If it breaks, you get to keep both pieces.

Yeah, that's part of the texture plus a particle effect for the acutal jet stream.

Can still see the resemblence, interestingly enough. Especially on the third to last pic (the one just below "They paint with blood". Very nice though. Great texturing job. The edges on the red of the Vampire look odd though. I don't know, just, kinda odd.

I use a filter in my paint program(Corel Photo Paint) called 'Elephant skin' which allows me to customize and apply such a patch-effect to a texture. Then a bit more shading and working out certain forms and details.

It also applies to different levels of brightnesses and adds a bump mapping effect to the image.

Hmmm, interesting, when I first opened this, I thought "Naboo Starfighter sans the tail and engines on the wing tips" and then you mention the A-Wing and I can see that too. Anyway, they both look very good.

I know what seems odd about the red now. It's supposed to be blood I think you said. But either way. It looks like the grey skin is a liquid at the edge of the grey/red. Like the grey skin stuff was poured onto the red.
