Here's a WIP of a little something I like to call "DF2 Kyle" for JKA.

Observe the differences:
-lighter shirt to match the one worn by Jason Court
-JK-style pants and boots
-no more turtleneck sweater!
-blue eyes. Not sure if Court had blue eyes, but the Kyle on the label for Disc 1 sure does.
-New lips. The JKA model's upper lip was conspicuous by its complete absense.
-Slight beard trim.

There's still more which needs to be done. In particular, the leather braces on his forearms are too complex... JK's were pretty plain. The beard needs to be thinned out in general, too, and also there's a fundamental problem with the model itself... Kyle's gun holster should be on his left side.
People have also remarked that the collar and utility belt deserve the axe, but not only does that look pretty bad in-game, it doesn't fit with the cutscenes. (See "A Father's Message" and pay close attention to the way his shirt flares out in the front and how he does have a collar in back.)

Hmm. It might be better than the original but he still looks too much like a bantha herder...

Dark Jedi Kyle skin by Infinity_Blade for JO was a really nice skin, which got rid of the herder looks once and for all.

But of course I realise that's not your goal.

Interesting. It'd look more like the in-game Kyle if you shaved his beard and lightened up his hair.

His throat looks too tanned. Put some highligts there.
Otherwise I'd say that you've done a nice job.

Lighten the pants! NOW!

(But the upper body is good)

You need to add green to the blue to make it really look blue, otherwise it'll just look like purple. Also in the case of eyes, very few people have eye color that rich, so dull it by lowering color saturation.

Updated. Among other things I've given him proper wrist braces and a thinner beard. Makes him look younger and more like Court than before.

Still needs work, though. The eyes are still kind of purple even after I've fiddled with them, so I'll need to take care of that. Also, I still need to find a way to trim the beard back so it doesn't cover so much space.

Dart this is sith_master2000 (as you know me).
I think you've made the pants way to light, I prefer them they way I had them maybe just a little lighter than that. Also the arm bands are too bright and bland, if you make them darker they'll look closer to Jason Court's. Every thing else except the eyes are fine.

I've readjusted my monitor. Before, it was too dark to actually see how awful the pants were until I got into the game.
I've switched back to the pants I was using when I started this skin. They're generally better, apparently. Also, I've darkened the braces and finally gotten rid of those blasted purple eyes.
And yes, I'm aware of the lack of highlights on the neck, but I kind of suck at skin tones right now. =/

The eyes are still purple. And no, I've got a calibrated setup, my colors are accurate. Just add more green to the mix.

Edit: They ARE better, but not the best.

The boots need to look a bit more.... boot-ish. But other than that, a lovely tribute to the cutscene Kyle of the first Jedi Knight. (and still the best Kyle around in my opinion. XD)

Well I guess if you've taken the stuff I did out there's no reason for me to hang around this thread anymore :( .
2004-10-02, 7:27 PM #17
he only has half a neck texture...the rest is just flat out skin-tone color.
Think while it's still legal.
2004-10-02, 8:45 PM #18
And the armbands are just a plain brown color... they should be left as the were in the first shot.
I bet you think that's funny, don't you.
2004-10-02, 8:49 PM #19
More tinkering with those blasted eyes, and thinned out the goatee to comply with how he had it in JK's cutscenes.

The neck still needs work of course, but as I said, I totally suck with natural skin tones, so nothing I do to it looks good at all. By the way, the jpg compression on these shots keeps ruining it for you guys... it is kind of "noisy" like real skin, not just a single flat color.

And if anyone wants to help, like say with those pesky eyes or the neck, just gimme an Email. I'd appreciate it... I'm looking to put out the best JK Kyle skin yet, even if it takes multiple artists.
