Woah - old work...

Hi,

Looking over my old Theed maps had me dig out a few of my unfinished/unreleased/never-to-see-the-light-of-day JK projects from the good-ol'-days. Why not be a little show-off and showcase them again ;-)

Save R2S4 (or something like that).

Was an idea back in 2000 or so to bring a TFC "The Hunted" type gameplay to JK. Was nearly finished, needed only some cogging work. Rebels (either Jedi or Wookies with bowcasters) where to protect a - player controlled - R2-unit to escape from a imp base where they had stolen some plans or other. Those imps not passed out by the nerve gas try to stop them. Wireshot of the map:

and here

to reach their shuttle.

TPMTC Theed Level

Was nearly finished, only needed some cutscenes. Well.

Would have had QuiGon and ObiWan start out on the very left in the gungan sub, battle their way through and under Theed and reach the palace. Loads and loads of textures created for this one. Also sounds and 3dos.

Near the beginning:

Doing some battling:

and on...

to the palace

More from that one here: http://www.campingpilot.com/jk/theed/

Plus: some playing around with a Cosuscant texture set:

something for a side-scrolling battle-thingy someony wanted to build (Juz? Oz? I don't remember...)

And some playing around with a Theed Palace Hangar

And of course, the only thing i ever did release:

Galactiv Locations
...still around somewhere here in the files section.

fun times :-)

ah - and a space/Nar-type-city skybox originally made for fun, then adapted for Os' NarShadaa-JO/JA-Level (whatever happened to that one, anyway?), then never used:

They look decent. I LOVED Galactic Locations.

As for the TPMTC level, why don't you throw some cutscenes in, then?

I think Theed map has pontential. Maybe add some more architecture into the map.

I love all these random old maps you people keep finding...

That 'Save droid' level's interior looks pretty bland, but I like that outdoor area.

I hope you know that Galactic Locations is both my favorite set of maps, as well as what initially got me into the aspect of JK editing.

Also, I'd REALLY like to get ahold of that droid-tank.

Basically, because I don't know how to do that, (I never had time to go through the tutorials for that) and because I could not release the map b/c it is meant to work with the TPMTC patch which I can't release on my own. The cutscenes necessary would be something like:
1. Qui, Obi and Jarjar arrive in the sub. Get out. The sub falls over the waterfall. Boom. Qui (the player) tells Obi and JarJar not to move and stay behind (don't want him around for the level)

The player goes off alone.

2. Cool Droideka unfolding cutscene (TM)

after some in-house battles, Qui reaches a courtyard.

3. Obi and JarJar join him, flying on a battle droid fly-thingy. Qui tells them to stay here, bla bla bla

Qui proceeds to do some key-getting-puzzles, opens a door. When he comes back he sees

4. JarJar on the other side of a large bridge. Obi battling a droid tank on the bridge. Obi shouts somthing like "don't be rash, jung padawan! bla bla. tank blows up, bridge destroyed. Obi and JarJar on other side. Player can't get over.

Player goes under the city (sewers, big bad fish, switch puzzle, jumping puzzle etc.) to another courtyard where...

5. JarJar and Obi appear on another one of the flight thingies (or through a back door or whatever).

On in the level, followed by JarJar and Obi (pre-scripted, possibly)

6. Cool jumping-from-bridge-to-save-queen-type cutscene. Queen's got to be there of course

Player goes off to unlock forcefield barring way to palace where freedom awaits in form of secret entrance to Theed hangar. (some switch puzzle on the way, of course)

7. End cutscene after successful rescue.

Quite a lot of work, that ;-)

The map is huge already. Most houses, towers etc. are 3dos to keep it from homming like mad in the quite open spaces I have in there. Check the wireframe shot with the default JED-grid for a size reference.

Me too, I had a lot of fun yesterday evening going through all the old folders.

Go download it, then. The butterflies are just part of the scenery, they are sitting on the plants in the Skygarden.

Try to get hold of Zy (used to be zymotica@hotmail.com) he did the original thing, iirc. If you get his OK I can email you the model. There's also a cool bd model, a droid fighter model and a droideka model, all with their own AI - all in th emap somewhere.

That Theed Map looks cool...but man does that framerate look painful. I'm hoping thats just because you have an old PC. :D

Beautiful work though!

If you're looking for some one to help you with those cutscenes and stuff, Hell Raiser just made a reappearence over at the cog forum basically asking for some projects to help on.

woah... that really makes me want to launch JED again...

I remember always wanting to create a Theed SP level myself when I saw TPMTC screenshots... but didn't have any textures.

Man, Goofz. Those are all swank. If you need help on anything, let me know. I've been looking to make a comeback on a JK project for awhile now.
