Those who remember my past work 'Escape', here's the direct successor, to show what actually the ships were escaping from - the destruction of Diamond Station Bridesta 1.

Wait a minute; that planet was a space station, or am I just confused? Either way, that's more good artwork. Did I ask what program you're using for these scenes, or just what program you used to model the ships? (or are they both one and the same?)

The ships are fleeing from the exploding station(this pic) to the safety of the planet(other pic)

Ok, let's see what did I use...
Rhino 3D for the Models
Corel Photo Paint for the texturing and creating the final images, effects, etc.
Deep Exploration to make the render shots of the single models

Further, as the models are actually addon ships for XWA, I use some other programs to make the ingame ships and lateron convert them to 3DS format.

My only complaint would be that the edge of the explosion seems a bit cartoonish compared with the rest. Maybe it would look better if it were a bit tansparant (assuming it is a seperate layer from the starts). The halo is cool.

You only have 3 big ships leaving the explosion, but 6 reaching the planet :p
I like it otherwise.
