Deep space equals a lot of stars.

Well, there are alot of stars in space. >.> In any case, aesthetically pleasing it is.

Not bad for paint/photo editor. But it might indeed have more stars.
Why don't you use The Gimp though? That's free, if photoshop or paint shop pro are too expensive for you. And it's about just as good. (except for the wacky interface :P)

Since most of you requested more stars I added more stars.

PS I don't use the gimp cause the download mirror for it was broken.

It reminds me of one of the default night sky textures from JK.

It doesn't look like stars at all, and for a very good reason. You've got a bunch of large bright stars and nothing else. It's as if all the stars were placed in a perfect spherical pattern and the point of view was it's center.

Here's a couple of tips:

Work with layers of stars. Make your very first layer with tiny very dark grey spots, barely visible. Spread them around everywhere. Then, pick a slightly brighter shade of grey, and do the same thing again, and so on and so on until you progressively move up to bright white stars. The very large stars like the ones you have here should be fewer - maybe two or three, no more. Remember, stars are lightyears apart and the probability of even only two stars being so close to eachother is extremely slim.
The music industry is a cruel and shallow money trench where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side.

Meh, all star formations are line of sight effects. So they can seem so close together easily if you look from the right angle.

GIMP for windows
there's more than one download mirror, if one doesn't work, try another.

Lots of images for references on nebulae.

I like the first few. Not so sure on the last one.
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.
