World Devastators.

Do you know what the beauty of making a WD is?

Each one has a sentient core that builds whatever additions it wants to itself.

So, over the course of, like, 3 years, it becomes completely unique, unlike any other WD.

I'll get around to giving it things like guns and antennae and stuff later.

Here's what it might look like activated. Scary.

-So, yeah. That thing about unique developments? That means no reference pics.

I'm sorry, but I don't just see how that machine could devastate worlds. It looks more like an ore processing unit for a mine.

Nice modelling, though.

Those things were awesome in Rogue Squadron, and they still are now. Still don't understand something about the AI though:

If it is just cookie-cutter produced... even if each machine was sentient, wouldn't they end up coming up with the same ideas, since they are all the same?
2004-12-20, 5:40 AM #6
Well, perhaps if you unleash two World Destroyers on two different worlds, that they'll encounter different resources, and thus have to think of different things to do with them. >.>;;

That and the idea seems to exist within Star Wars that droids develop personalities of their own if you don't wipe their memory banks for long enough. (Such as 3PO and R2 then)

Hmm. I'd try and make it a lot less top-heavy. The WD from the guide seems to be squatting, with its legs coming out the side and then going down. The legs on yours look like the ones from Thunderbird 2, all spindly and weak.

Not a bad start though.

Fair enough...you get a world devastator, and Ill cause the systems star youre trying to devastate to go nova consuming everything within its radius except me...or maybe ill just fly the thing through your devastator and come out the other side without a scratch...Sound good? :p

...yeah im a star wars geek...but proud of it

Agreed. Sun Crusher is way cooler than a WD.

Wonder what would happen if one of the SC's torpedoes hit a WD - its got a rather large reactor inside iirc...

WD's essentially are giant ore processing units; They literally eat up the planets that they're attacking and use the resources to produce other crap (such as, adding stuff on to the WD, or building flights of TIE's, etc. the ones in the comics would build themselves a bunch of TIE droids, for example)

As for wether or not a WD is cooler than the sun crusher... They both suck :P
Moo.

I don't care how big the reactor is.. I'm thinking that a sun going nova will do more damage.. :p

Actually, they pulled it out. :)

I think its final resting place is a black hole in the maw cluster.

Of course, but say in an asteroid field, which would win? the SC or WD? If the WD has a large reactor inside it, then wouldnt the resonance torpedo cause a similar yet smaller boom to that of a sun?

I'm sure the SC's armour could hold off anything the WD could throw at it so no problem there, but the WD might be able to just *sit* on the SC.

Those things scared the crap out of me in the Dark Empire comic books... the sheer size and menacing power was... scary...

Haha, look at Luke's dopey expression.

Anyway, it looks nice. I like the beams of light shining out from underneath...I must figure out how to do that.

The empires most cruel and cunning weapon is randomly assorted boxes?

I'm sorry, but I simply have to live up to my title on this one.

It's not all looks that matter on this thing... it's those massive fire-beams that do bad-nasty things coming out of the bottom. ;)
DO NOT WANT.
2004-12-21, 7:49 PM #23
Didn't they have a big ball thing that could just blow up a whole planet like nothing? Wouldn't that be the emporer's most devastating weapon?

And if I recall correctly, it took alot more to take out a death star than it did to take out one of these things.

"That thing" was still around after the uh... "defeated" it. Them.
I wonder, could the WD eat a SC? If so... what could it make out of one?
*ponders*
Huh. That's... interesting...
And, to answer Kirby, yes. It was. their other cruel weapons included wedges (SDs), balls (DSs), and pyramids stacked on top of other pyramids (SCs). They weren't known for their imagination, even in coming up with names.

-So... I'm thinking of adding more engines, more furnace intakes, and maybe a better looking brigde... Still working on that Moldy Crow model, btw.

Well, I've made a brigde, all star destroyeresque, and I'm gonna give it some turrets before I show it again.

-Also, I expanded the "legs".
