Been pottering around with Unreal Tournament in preparation for Republic Commando. Ive been using Maya PLE 4.0 to make static meshes. Here are various shots....

Sorry to tell you, but it's not really that good. There's no particular architectural theme, and a lot of it just doesn't seem to fit. There's bad uses of colored lighting in here, and it's really been overused. The textures clash and are inconsistent. And from what can be seen, it's doubtful that it'll flow well.

I love the third from the bottom.

I like the whole thing, really, and I too am excited about republic commando.

I like the last 4 interior pictures, but the first three pictures...the textures conflict too much, in my opinion.

The second to last is great.

Otherwise, good job.

Nice to see someone else preparing for Republic Commando... tee hee.

I must agree that the textures in the first shot aren't really working out great (and the rusty metal wall texture is cut off).

I think that the architecture misses something in most of the shots. I can see that you've already worked on adding small details, but I think you should expand on it and even a bit more. ('Though not in excess)

There's a few conflicting textures, but I think that it is quite good. I like how it kind of hangs on to the UT1999 style. Quite cool.

Why aren't you mapping for UT2004 though :p

I dont have 2004, and anyway- Republic Commando is using the 2003 engine...not that theres a huge amount of difference.

Does UT2004 come with Maya PLE and can you import custom static meshes?

I see the point about texturing in the first shot needed some simplification- thanks for the feedback. I didnt want that area to be boring in terms of texturing.... I guess I went a little too far in the other direction.

Yes it does, FoolsParadise. It has Maya 5 PLE on the 6th CD, or on the DVD.
DO NOT WANT.
