I am a new JK level editor, and I have made a level(unfinished) I would like Anyone/Everyone to give it a try and throw some advice my way. I would really like it if you would give me some ideas for the above outside area.

I'll have some screenshot soming soon for those who don't have JK.

Thanks to anyone who complies ^.^

Sign up for the Editors Corner on the main massassi.net page and upload your pictures there. :) Geocities doesn't allow outside linking to pictures.

It seems repetitive and bland, but that will change as you gain more experience. I can't comment on the gameplay aspect of your level as I haven't played it.

Keep at it.
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

I beta tested this level when it was in a pretty early stage.

I say it'd have ok gameplay (If I played with more people than myself :S ). But it's pretty good for a first map. Sadly the lack of lighting and custom textures is bleh.

Amazing work for a new editor. Your mip-maps are broken, so be sure to play with the distances.

Also, learn the UV scales of the mats, as some of them are OBVIOUSLY tiling.

Lastly: Use the lighter.dll found somewhere in the editing forum. It's basically free lighting, and does a damn good job at it. Little to no lighting is required on your part.

I see advanced archi ideas, implimentation of simple effects, and a level that works without hom or misflagged surfaces etc. Fantastic work for a first time editor. Just keep at it.

What jEDIkIRBY said. I was bowled over when I read you were brand new to JK editing. This looks like it at least took a good month or two's worth of experience to build. It is by no means going to win any awards (when compared with something like clan ruthervain's work), but for a first timer this is some pretty exceptional stuff. Keep it coming, I look forward to future works from you. :)

Also, I'll see if I can give your level a test run at some point.

What's with the graphic card? Or is it .jpg compression?

Just a few things noticed: alot of tiling, lack of lighting, basic architecture, and some areas of no importance. However, for
just starting, this is very nice! ;)

I remember my first levels... I could never figure out why I couldn't test them in game... then I met a little friend by the name of consistancy checker, and the peasants rejoiced! :D

Its definately a nice piece of work for a new editor. You clearly understand the concepts involved with sectors and advanced architecture so you're already off on the right foot.

The issues of course have been mentioned, bland tiled texturing and no lighting (yet) are the main ones. That large open canyon expanse would look a lot better if you chopped up the ridge along the skyline to make it look less uniform. See LECs Jedi Tower multiplayer level for an example.

As a matter of fact 2 months is about right overall. although it use to be WAAAY diferent and i spent half the time makeing the first version and then changing it. So only about one month on what u see. also id like to say if i did it all over it would take me about 10 hrs to duplicate this

thanks that will be helpful :D

As for the "Brand New" title, im realy not. but i am new to everything. you see, i have been messing around with JED for a few years, but i didnt get into it until i thought of doing this map

I am going to take any and all advice/pointers to heart and try to implement them all as best i can.

Just as soon as i get JED working aging

Oh and i almost forgot... Its just the fact that i got a VERY POOR grafix card and no money 4 a new one. I did however resize the screenshots from 800x600 to 640x480 so they were small enough to upload

What everyone else said pretty much. In the last screenshot, that area is what really needs to be spruced up quite a bit. It's boxy and I'm not sure what you are doing with the pool of water, but if it's not going to be a man-made one, make it irregular in shape. Otherwise, good job and keep up the good work.
No sig.

Not bad, not bad... Just a little too simetrical... The roof seems a little empty... You could put ships, or something up there, that fly off with you once you step on them.

And the inner pools seem a little dry... Could work out as a CTF level.

Hey, if you're having problems getting Jed to work, uninstall Jed and JK, back up your projects onto a cd or something. The purpose of backing up your projects is so you don't have to wory about accidentally deleting them. Type regedit in run in the start menu. Hit ctrl + f and search for jed. Delete every file it comes up with (you may want to look at the file before deleting, and don't delete if you know it's important). Hope this works for you. ;)

It's been a while, I've never released anything (not even pics) but I'm quite ok
