this is my first time posting on Massassi, been watching other peoples showcases and editing skills on here for a long time, and i have been impressed on multiple occasions. But today i decided to register and post something. I watched Aliens yesterday (i was off school for the day because of my exams) and i said to myself 'i must revise today' but ended up procrastinating(sp?) and watching that movie. Afterwards i picked up a pencil and a sketch pad and drew this:

or if the link dosnt work just copy this into your browser:

Its just some rough work, and im not much of an artist but there you go, and its still WIP, most of the image was chopped off by my crappy scanner and i had to edit the levels a bit so that you could actualy see it..yes my scanner is really that crappy. Any comments would be appreciated. :)

Try dragging the link to the address bar. The no-hot-linking script redirects you to the referrer, it seems.

Okayish, I guess. I'm missing any realy definition of shapes, but that might be because it's not really shaded.

like i said, its WIP ill probably work on the shading some more after i finish drawing the rest of the body and arm (not shown in picture)

My major complaint would be that it looks kind of flat. But working on the shading should probably take care of that. Other than that, great start.

I see lots of lines, and they all seem to be in the wrong places. It makes it look...bleh.
Think while it's still legal.

Hey, I think it's a great start. It's easily WAY better than anything I could do. I agree with the above posters though, it looks a bit flat and could do with some more definition. Still looks pretty nice though, especially for a WIP.

When I first read this thread I though it had something to do with David McHale's awesome levels or my (shortlived) Aliens project for MotS.

a very nice pic, looks very mechanical to me tho...a valient effort non the less keep it up! practice makes perfect
The drawings of a fox eating a rabbit illustrate nature's intended course: the weaker species are justly but inevitably devoured without mercy by superior forces. We are those forces. Run, rabbit, run!

well H.R gigers original concepts where called 'Biomechanoids' if you ever go on his site and see the original drawings and paintings, the alien itself looks very mechanical.

Thanks for all the comments, ill start working on it later after my exams and hopefully fix it up a bit.
