I am at a loss for JK editing ideas at the moment. I want something really neat archiwise, and I'd like to branch out from my typical, boring symmetrical maps. I know I have lots of other things I've been working on (including the JK Editing HoF) but I want a small, snazzy little project to work on for a few days that I can release instantly.

So basically, suggest something, and I'll see what I can do. Preferably not any models, maps only please, for JK of course (I might consider MotS). Also, only Multi-Player, unless it's a really short and really cool SP idea. Pictures of things would be great, either off of Google, or an uploaded pic from a scanner that you drew. Even just a detailed description would be nice. But please, ideas. I'm usually creative, but not so at the moment. Also, I'm not guaranteeing I'll design something if you mention it, but if it appeals to me and I think it's within my capabilities (and won't take months) I'll shoot for it. Just fire away ideas, you're not limited to one. I want to build, baby! :D

well i really am new at this whole thing but an idea that i have is to try something a little more gothic. I'd like to see a spiral staircase in black with some posts at the end that have some kind of creature atop of them (if any of this is possible). Then with the floor I think that you can make it like your going to sink into the floor but in reality your not.. Use alot of shadows to darken the scene up a bit and any advice you could give to me about this whole thing so that my crativity can grow to help you and others, I am all ears
dream of breezes through broken trees, and whisper back with equality in thought.

What about a graveyard? Haven't ever seen a graveyard JK level.
Or else you can go with the totally original (and copyrighted by me...yeah, even Lucas had to pay me) Sith temple carved out of a boiling volcano's craterwalls.

Who remembers the old game called Tracer (by 7th LEVEL)? There's a nice old game that could be "ported" to JK.

It is a cyberspace place where there is this hero attempting to hack into databases by placing color coded pads while a virus is snapping at his heels.

Hope that gives some inspiration?

Well, we do have a few Dojo levels.

Would be suitable for a samurai mod. XD But ninjas were to be found in backalleys and on rooftops. But I guess that could do. ^.^

Well... whenever I get editor's block on my levels, I usually practice 3DO modelling. It's always a good skill to have under your belt, and it won't pull you too far away from level editing. I say fire up JED and make player model of yourself, and GOB it as an easter egg into your next map. You're welcome. ;)

BTW-I hope you haven't canned your 76 other beautiful gems... else I would be obligated to inflict sharp agonizing pain upon your right ocular.

I'll try and keep that in mind Halucid! ;)

Right, after four hours of work, here is the beginning of a small Single Player level. I had started working on a Gothic level, but didn't like where it was going, so I restarted with this and because I felt inspired. I hope to get it done by Monday (but this is unlikely).

Oh, and "Look Ma, no mo' boring symmetry!"

I can't seem to find it. Is it a MotS or SinglePlayer level?

Anyway, what about a futuristic graveyard? How would that look like? I mean, people still die in the future, no?

Here are some shots (untextured of course :p ). Architecture is about 90% done I reckon, but this could change depending on whether I decide tp expand. This Single Player level should take 30 minutes max to complete, more like 15 if you know what you're doing, so not long I'm afraid. :( Nothing too revolutionary, but I'm going to work hard on textures and lighting. Any texture suggestions/pallettes/ links are readily and happily accepted. Fire away! :D

Nothing warms the heart more than dftl.mat and a nice level in progress :)

I would've said an ancient advanced civilization temple, a la Chozo.

But whatever it comes out as I'm sure it'll be pretty cool.

textures look nice, Is the lighting dynamic? It seems to be by the way it appears on kyle. one problem I see is the way the lighting is above that doorway, merge and re-cleave at angles connecting the corners of the doors and the ceiling corners. (you probably new that already, but just in case...)
[edit] after looking at the SS some more I realized that the back wall doesn't really have corners... so 45 degree angle should workl [/edit]

Yep, It's dynamic! I couldn't stand the Lighter plugin on this kind of architecture it made about a gazillion surfaces and slowed framerate to a crawl. If I'd have known that would happen, I would have made the whole lot a 3do. Darn.

You can still use lighter some in parts! Never under-estimate the powah of visible layers. Looks good for the most part... It makes me feel like Sigorny Weaver is gunna jump around the corner brandishing a flame thrower. :D

Too repeatitive on some textures tho... like the pipe archi, that could stand more of a 'pipe' texture... and I've always hated that choice of a floor texture.

That's some of the best archi and texture use I've probably ever seen in JK. Now if you could just get ALL the lighting up to par.

Seriously though: Amazing job.
