Well, I have started working on next years halloween... it will be themed after "Legacy of Kain"... I am going to be Kain.... What we did was,

we took a cast of my head... (pic 1)

then I sculpted clay on over my head cast (pic 2)

I then had to smooth out the head (pic 4)

Then we took a cast of the NEW head cast (no pic.. sorry)

then we poured foamlaytex in the mold and pressed my cleaned head cast in, so the foamlaytex would fit nicely on my face (no pic)

then we pulled the foam piece out and layed it over my life cast (no pic)

I then painted it with a mixture of acrylic paint and an adhesive (last couple pics)

This foam piece had a lot of bubbles in it, so we'll have to make a few more before we can get a perfect one... The one I painted is more or less garbage, but I painted it for the practice.

Holy hell, that's awesome. Makes me want to do something similar... Maybe for Carnaval next year.

(Could you perhaps link me to some good tutorials or stuff on how to do this, techniques, materials one needs etc?)

You'll also notice that the edges are VERY thick, and probably will be visible when the appliance is..... applied.... hmm... that is another reason we have to thorw this one away... the edges will be smoother than a piece of paper on a GOOD foam piece.... also, you might notice that the big horns on the side of the head, and the ears are gone on the foam piece, these will be seperate foam pieces to allow better movement and more realism

ZOOIkes: I really don't know of any... basically we just tried out a bunch of stuff till we got something that would work.

I wish I were as cool as Spiral :-(

I've always wanted to make a yoda head like this, but I don't have the knowledge, money, or time to do so. :gbk:

If you came to my door wearing that, I'd give you 10x the amount of candy as normal.
