It's essentially death with bouncepads. The only health to be found is the Revive up top, paired with an upward flow. I'm thinking about making another (maybe more than that) small map like this and creating a DM pack based on this no-frills concept. Any comments or suggestions are welcomed. :)

The walls bore me.

they need slight variation.

Dont throw pipes across them or something like that though. I think some wear and tear would be cool

Yes, a little variation in the wall texturing might be good. but don't listen to me, I'm only replying to this thread to play with my voice recognition software.
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

that's not all they want, spiral, it's the only thing they want changed. cause they want every aspect of it to be up to par, and yeah... it's a really big area for nothing to be happening in.

i kind agree, but i dunno what to add. so ill say it's great and all. haha.

It could use some more interesting factors, but I like the style. It would be a great entry for that MLP5, if that is still going.

Mechanics-wise it's clever, but there's nothing there for the eyes.

I agree about the part that the walls are a bit 'empty'.
On the other hand, it looks good.
You could either make a hard to get secret area where there is a switch labled "Hell Breaks Loose Here!"

I've got a couple ideas that I'm going to try and implement tonight... hopefully I'll have some updates tonight. Thanks for all the comments, guys.

Funny how they're all saying EXACTLY what I said!

I've played the level, and it plays pretty well, although the bounce-pads, to me, decrease flow of gameplay the way they're built into the wall.

Sorry but it is reallllly boring and bland. You need to add something creative or give it a theme to make it more interesting. As is, it is just another random run of the mill death match that no one will play.

It has an "arena" feel to it. If you are referring to the textures, yes I agree. Nothing overly detailed but something to detract from blandness.

While my feelings tend to side with Dj Yoshi's, I guess I have no choice but to go all out..

The lights will be recessed; much like the one in the first pic.. I may add coronas to them.. but that's still up in the air.
The outside area you see will have pipes running both underneath the catwalks and above them, with the top sets connecting in the center part of the roof. I'm tinkering with designs for them, but I've yet to come up with something I feel is worthwhile. I should have something to show off by Saturday.

i actually like the walls the way they are... i mean it looks plain like it is but it's easy on the eyes, good to look at actually... (it is 1:01 am so maybe i'm just tired) but try to look at it with having 20 people running around killing eachother, what do you really need to look at?... i don't know, i just think it's fine like that. just maybe some more shadowing on them... like longer more gradual shadows would be about all.

Are there elevators in this level? I really hope not because it seems like they would ruin the flow of the level.

there any ladders in JK? i don't really remeber there being any in maps i've played.... if you don't already have stairs or something, put latters, i think they'd be ok for this one.......

Well, from a realistic perspective, you'd expect all the walls in a facility to look the same everywhere. XD So I don't think they need changing.

Dear boB man, use the Lighter plug-in on that! :D

And while we're at it, I've seen and used ladders where you activate them, and it just pushes you up the ladder quite fast like. It works. ;)

it's all bouncepads, not elevators. people will cringe, but it's the only form of transportation that'll keep you alive the longest.

and i used the plug-in.. and i got horrible results.. one-sided shadows and whatnot, and loads of cleaves that in some parts made lighting really jagged outside the shadows... it took longer to cleave the lighting than it did to build the entire map, but i feel it was worth it.

Yeah, my plugin isn't for everything. Use it wisely! But really now, I wish people would have actually provided me with some test levels...I won't come up with every possible case myself, and it seems too often that when other people do somehow find something wrong they won't let me help them...maybe I can get your help on this in irc :P
The plugin works for like 99.9% of the cases and does so very well anytime I have used it, yet this is not the first time someone has had a major problem with it. I haven't gotten my hands on a level that has serious problems with the plugin though, because no one will give them to me...so I have no idea why it wouldn't work, as a result.

I've scrapped the pipe ideas... I don't feel they fit with the minor additions I've made. I'm going to add a few more details here and there, and clean up the lighting a tad.. but I'm starting to like how things are looking. Like/hate/resent/anything?

i don't really like the sky....
and add something weird to spice it up, like... some special hidden area or.... like um, would there be a way to make say a tunnel in the middle of the air in an empty space that is invisible. if you get inside of it you are also unable to be seen and maybe put like some small vertical slits in it to shoot out of. when you're inside you can see like some kind of textures, not invisible like it is outside. and you could make it do like 5 dammage every 7 seconds so people wouldn't stay in it...... maybe that's too hard or completely impossible :P

I'm pretty much satisfied with this map, unless someone can give me a compelling suggestion to alter it. I don't think eye candy is too relevant in this map, since I designed it around flow... but I've certainly tried to give it as much sparkle as possible without making it the focal point. I've spent a lot more time on this than I've been wanting to, and I feel it's time to start a new project.

I don't want to add anything like secret rooms or windows, because it would really cramp the flow of the map. The only weapon you have is the concussion rifle, so mixing hiding with everyone having no shields will only lead to bad things.

I like it, and I know you're all about flow, but I do think it needs some more visual appeal. I suppose this is "done" for you now, though, so not much point in me adding suggestions.

However, it might be nice if you had bombers zipping by overhead dropping a payload of explosives. I did that with "Proelium", only that level was WAY too small. :cool:
