Hello, Massassi community. This is my first major post, so I'll try and make it count. I'm new to mapping, so bare with me. After playing with GTK for a little, I started formulating ideas for my first map project. I've already talked with friends and gotten imput; done sketches and architechture designs. This will be multiplayer.

For my first project attempt, I'm going to be building an "imperial powerplant/relay" station. Just because I'm new, I'm starting with premade floor plans, and a basic level layout. Using my old highschool map as a guide, I'm going to build up an imperial powerplant, with garrison housing, storage hangers, landing pad, and a main reactor.

I'll try and keep this thing updated, if anyone shows interest, or can provide some helpful tips along the way. I decided the first step I would take into the map realm would be the power-reactor, which the rest of the level will be built around. I'll be posting pics of two designs I've done so far in the next few posts.

Another shot of Reactor 2. Its a bad screen though; I didn't realize I'd put that glowing-panel shader on the outside of the reactor.

The texturing leaves much to be desired.

Yeah. The texturing isn't too good. It needs a better eye-catching design.

I personally think the first one is the best design, but definatley need to see if you can find some better mats. The ones your using might work okay if you add other things to attract the eye.

Without the hud and the character, it would look just like JK...Needs more detail, better textures.

Yea, you might want to to up the detail on that (a patch mesh here, a misc model there, perhaps some better textures, and you might have something going there. you also might want to give us an environment so we can understand its context (is it sealed? or will the player be able to walk up to it and get fried)

I've been busy with real work and such for the last 3 or 4 days, so I haven't touched Gtk since my original posts. Does anyone know where I can get some tut. for effects, like electricty and such?
