For HL2 this time:

It's a location from my book and it'll not only be the temple but also an entire plaza with at the most 8 buildings you can enter. Don't know if I'll ever make it into a level-ish thingy, or whether it'll just be for eye-candy's sake.

I like the archi, but for some reason it looks like a 16bit JK map.
This is retarded, and I mean drooling at the mouth

It's the lighting I think. Needs some lightsources and a RAD compile. :)

2005-04-13, 7:30 AM #4
Yeah lighting is temporary and rendered in a low quality.
The area is still far from complete, there'll be windows, an altar and some more minor details

Great archi! But as said, the lighting is quite sillybilly.

I think GtkRadiant supports HL2 now.

Nope. I heard it will never support HL2.

2005-04-14, 11:23 AM #9
Yeah I spoke with the author of QERadiant and he said that he wouldn't be adding HL2 support.

Nice (although you know that already, as I said it on the TACC thread).

Off-topic query: Does/will Gtk support Doom III?

Yes it does, I believe you even have an In-editor lighting preview. That's pretty cool.

From what book is this?
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

That's cool. I'd like to work with that engine, but editing Doom III itself doesn't interest me much, are any other games licensing it?

JG: Something I'm writing, which is as of yet unreleased, but the drawings I've posted here in the showcase forum in the last year(s) are from the same book.
There's a bit more about it on my website if you're interested (veddertheshredder.com, then go to the Beyond Good & Evil section).

Anth: Besides some new Wolfenstein and Quake sequals I wouldn't know of any.

wtf... Radiant support for HL2 would make my day/week/month :(. I'd start mapping like right now.

I want a version of JED that supports HL2 editing.

Here's a small update. I haven't edited much lately, except for the last two days. I started working on the outside, not very spectacular yet, but there'll be many more buildings and I hope to create a 3d skybox that'll make it look as if you're in the middle of a huge city (which you are :) ).
Still don't know what I'm going to do with it, maybe I'll turn it into a DM level, but the layout might not suite mp very well.

that still looks like a JK map with good textures with the grav gun PSed in.

but it still looks good.

I agree.

I think the problem is a lack of detail in the architecture.

yeah, realise that those arches can have at a minimum... 16 sides? since, i think 32 sides for a whole circle is good... 16 for each half circle in there would look smooth.

same with the circle windows, and most of the details on the pillars.
2005-05-03, 2:45 PM #22
Well, I would add more detail, but currently I'm affraid I'll eventually have to remove detail.
Currently I have one finished building, of the eight I am planning to build and I have already used 25% of the maximum allowed number of brush faces...
so if all other buildings are just as detailed (and most are) I will hit compiling errors when I finish the fourth building.

And that's just the eight buildings, besides that I'm planning a huge 3d skybox to make it feel like you are in the middle of a large city, and parks and walls and statues around the buildings.

Anyone with any bright ideas concerning that, please speak.
