I like 'em, seems like a good start. You might want to cleave up (or extrude) the canyon walls to make them seem more irregular and natural, though.

that rock wall in the last picture has a ton of texture misalignments.

It has nice architecture, however, the textures could be different. That grass texture looks pretty bad IMO maybe i could give you one I made. also you should probably use another door too, it kind of looks ugly with the building. the lighting needs some work. that inside area looks good with the fading darkness, but the outdoor lighting is pretty nonexistent. I realise that it is only a WIP so get to work on the textures, lighting, etc and this wil turn out nice. BTW is this a single player or MP?

Ok, if you want send the mat to massassian@hotmail.de and the door is just temporary. Both levels are SP.

Nah, I was meaning something more like this: http://www.massassi.net/levels/screenshots/canyonstream2.jpg (Not exactly with the same amount of detail.. I could see that being a tall order if you're relatively new to JK editing ;]). Basically, all the editor did was cleave and extrude from a main sector to create the various crevices and contours of the wall.

Honestly, I don't really know what direction your WIPs are going. Some base? Some canyon? Town? I can't seem to put it together. Seperate rooms?

The textures are herendus.

Go look here at massassi's textures, or find another site, just make sure to ask / give credit to whoever made them. The original LEC textures are only good on rare occasions, and even the ones that arn't LEC textures that you used are not very good at all. Also, all of your indoor shots looked very cramped. Your city is also very non-lifelike. Remove the stone wall textures and make it 3D in to buildings and such. Keep in mind these are only just sugguestions, but I beleive they would improve on your level a great deal.

I think what really makes that one stand out is the matching skybox with a gaussian blur applied to the texture to give the illusion of depth (or at least that's how I think it was done).

Your map is off to a fine start. It's not entirely boxy like some simular maps I have seen, however it does seem a bit boxy in some areas, and the textures are too steril (realisticly, there is going to be some wear and tear to any landscape whether it's some of the sand winding up on the concrete, rust on the water-part of the grate (and a little above that to symbolize that the water level isn't constantly perfect), cracks in the walls, gum or paper on the floor, blood under the dead guy, etc...)

Other than that, I'm liking it.

Texture misalignment again in the first pic.
Textures also need to be replaced.

Keep it up. :)
