The Imperial Light Repeating Rifle. My own design inspired by the [old] conc design. (That's being redone in DF style.)

Model: repeater.ms3d
Polygons: 1802
Build Time: 7 hours
Game: JK/MotS/* (Jedi Knight: Source)

I've got a cocking bolt, and a clip release on this model. I added them in both for realism, and for visuals. The flatness of the gun cannot be remedied without textures (Shred's job), but I personally like it. I think this model stays true to the game, but updates it enough to where it's a believable weapon. The front guard will have a grate mat over it, as well. I'm VERY happy with this model, but am willing to work on it if you've got any good suggestions. I think I might add some ridges to the clip, actually.

Questions, Comments, more random plugs for the JKhub?

SEXIEST REPEATER EVER.

Looking good. I am glad someone is working on improving the look of the original JK.

I am probably wrong, but I thought the front guard was more of an equilateral triangle.

Beefy.

But dump the forward grip. Or change it to a grip on the bottom of the gun.

That forward grip just doesn't work for me. At all. It looks like you've got enough space for two fingers and nothing more. Plus I just can't really see an immediate NEED for a grip like that on the repeater. The gun just looks too small.

I say if you really think it needs a grip elsewhere, shove on on the underside of the gun.

I love it. I haven't played the original Dark Forces very much at all, so I don't know how faithul it is to that model. It's certainly miles ahead of the current JK version, I can say that much.

finally a pistol grip instead of that weird *** stock/grip.
2005-06-01, 10:09 PM #7
It's great, but I think the clip is a bit too smooth, and I agree with Phoenix, that weird second grip should be changed to something more like what you would see on a shotgun.

Second grip is EWEIRD. But the rest is perfect.

That's possibly the best version of the repeater I've ever seen. The front grip though, wouldn't it be really uncomfortable to reach over to that? Maybe make the opening sort of taper out in the back, instead of coming straight out, giving room for the wrist. And maybe make the grip extend further down, so it's more consistant with the other grip.

I would NEVER SotD myself. That's brad's doing. Thanks brad.

I REALLY like the front grip, but I'll see what I can do about making it bigger. You see, there's no real place to put your other hand on a gun like this. I want to keep a flat edge on the bottom. So the internal foreward grip is ideal.

i dont really like the front grip. I think that a hand holding it on the bottom would be fine.

I don't really like the front grip either. And its not really essential. A bottom grip would be alot better. Atleast try it out jedi, and show us what it would look like, and if you don't like it just improve the front grip.

Honestly though, I don't think it looks good.. And not really ergonomically designed either..

The rest is awesome. But to make it accurate, the clip in the front doesn't exsist in the original and the front triangular barrel is a bit longer.

but its really good looking so far.

The original was sort of three interlocked chainguns, with the triangular barrel in front. I don't see any interlocked chainguns.

I removed the foreward grip and added a grip with a bracer along the bottom. I know of no other handle support that'd work for the height of the front portion of this weapon.

You're wrong. The original was a sort of box with a box attached to a box. This is an improvement, and short of making moving internal parts, I don't see how I can 'show' you chainguns. And I don't SEE any chainguns on the original mesh, anyway.

Bah, I miss your original awkward front grip. It's nice to see something different and interesting, rather than the same old underside grip. I agree the original didn't look comfortable, or big enough for more than a couple fingers, but at least it was something different and experimental.

Love the model once again very sexy! i dont know, something about it gives the feel of the old Aliens franchise gun M-41A Pulse Rifle

That's the original repeater sprite from Dark Forces.

Actually, I'm not sure wether those things on the side are supposed to be barrells or actual shells. Considering it shoots energy, I always thought they were barrells. I don't remember if they moved or not in DF. I always thought of the repeater as the star wars chaingun. That's how it felt in DF. In JK it just sucked, though; it was way too weak.

[edit] The round protrusion on the top-right is a rotating set of barrels. [/edit]

kinda sad how DF looks better in pov than Df2 lol

Get rid of the forward grip, replace it with a stock, or maybe with a handrest similar to that on the Episode II clone trooper rifle.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that what the repeater fires are actually metal projectiles encased in energy, sort of like the bowcaster's quarrels.

That's the Heavy Repeater from JO and JA, which is a cheap rip of an M16 (metal bullets). The JK was an ok imitation of the DF one. At least for the polies and whatnot.

personally, my opinion of this is the same as the conc; it's a great model, but IMO, if you're updating JK's repeater, I'd rather have an actual updated version of JK's repeater as opposed to a brand new design... but this one looks great either way
Moo.

This is... literally the exact same thing as the repeater except slight visual updates. I have no idea how to get any closer without an actual image of the repeater. OH wait, therE ISN'T one.

All the of DF weapons look better than JK. JK's weapons models were crap, even back when the game came out.

BTW, very nice model there JediKirby. Now get your butt to skinning it!
