You're making the same mistake that I see with nearly every new forum I visit. You have way too many forums for a board that only has 11 registered members and is just starting out. All of the posts will be so spread out, visitors to your forums will think that no one ever posts, and they wont bother to register. Look at massassi, with nearly 11,000 registered members we only have 8 or 9 open forums, and a day or two can go by in a couple of them without any new posts.

I think you'll be more successful in getting new members if you close 99% of those forums. Leave a general discussion forum, an editing forum, and a technology forum, or something like that, and then as more people register and become regular posters, you can add new forums as they are needed.

I agree with DSettahr. Make the forum groups the forums.

Yeah that's true. I didn't even bother to check out what forums are there, there are too many of them.

There is still way too many. Somewhere, you should have the option to move posts from one forum to another? That way you can keep the existing posts, move them to a couple forums, and then delete the rest.

No one said anything about deleting posts. MERGE the forums. Or move all the posts to one of the forums in each group, then delete the others.

And I can't imagine how many forums you had BEFORE you deleted some. You have.. 18 forums. That's at least 10 too many.

yeah... i've got exactly the same problem on my board (link in sig) - WAY TOO MANY forums. but it's multi-themed - web-design, visual art, and literature, so it's all justified, heh.

mmm... excuse the shameless self-plug.

for a JK editing board, yeah, that's probably WAY too many forums. pick a theme (editing in this case, i suppose) and stick to it.

No offense, but starting a forum is rather pointless. I've hardly seen any new forums like this take off at all. Especially when you have that many different forums. That is WAYYY too many. To be honest, you should only have about 2 or 3 considering your user base.

Good point, Raoul. If your forum's goal is to promote/talk about your mod, then why do you keep all those pointless discussion/star wars/gaming/whatever forums?

Actually he has a very good point. Forums cannot make a site or a community... forums give an existing community a place to communicate.

So how do you get a following? Easy. Make or post some original content on a website. Then later when you have some visitors you can make a forum for the website.

Exactly. No one is going to start going to this forum to discuss star wars. There are plenty of better places for that. The only purpose it can have is to discuss your own website's original content (ie: your mod) The only reason to divide a forum into multiple different forums is when the user base gets so big that it becomes necessary. What's the point of dividing it all into different sections from the very start? That's what different threads are for. If you want a place where people can talk about star wars, make a thread in your main forum. But you don't need an entire forum devoted to it.

look, the reason i had so many games is because it is a modding forum....not just for jedi outcast, for any game, hint, The Modders' Forum:) :) :) lol, and i wanted to make it star wars related, after i get more members, i'll add an anime forum, just the reason i have what i have is to have a little basic like thing ie General Discussion, Gaming, Other topics, and our mod's kinda dead, i may remove the FGEMod Forum....At first the forum was a bout one mod, now it's not about that mod at all, it's for mods for all kinds of games:D  :D .

in this i didn't say anything, harsh, at leas i hope not:em321:

i don't say any of this in a mean way at all, I don't want you to think im retaliating :) ;) :p we cool?

1) You're overdoing it. You don't have a community, so you don't need a forum for a community, you need it for the specific subjects your website is about. Get rid of every forum but the ones that specifically tie into whatever content you have.
2) Merge forums. You don't need, for example, a Half-Life forum and a Halo forum unless there is significant demand for it, and at the moment there isn't significant demand for everything. You don't need four general Star Wars forums. You don't need one. People can go to other, better places to discuss everything else, if you want your forums to be primarily for the modding community, only make forums about modding. And then if you have a sizeable community later on, add those forums as the community needs them.
I think I just repeated myself.
3) "Where Jedi's Die" is incorrect. "Jedi's" is possessive, and since it shouldn't be possessive, it should be changed to "Jedis".
4) Don't use so many smilies. It's extremely annoying, especially when on your forum, in an important (rules, for instance) thread there are 300 smilies after every other sentence. It's unprofessional and it looks bad.
You will die alone.

Technically, the plural of Jedi is Jedi.

It should be "Where Jedi die."

This man speaks the truth.

1. Delete Spamming/Test Forum, it's useless.
2. Merge the Announcements/Chit-Chat/Introduction forums in a Discussion Forum.
3. Merge Star Wars General Discussion/Star Wars Movies, that's exactly the same thing.
