It looks great for a first level. Architecture is pretty simple, but that will get better with practice. Texturing is technically well done, but pretty boring. More precisly, it's a bit colorless. A good color scheme usually consits of one main color (grey in your case) and one highlight color (not really present in your level). It's also partly an indirect cause of the simple architecture. Big walls with a repeating texture pattern are just...so 199X. Break them up with some detail archi like rims, seams, channels, niches, whatever you can think of. Look at professional maps of classic UT for example. These levels are architecturally also pretty simple, but they break it up with wisely placed detailomagick.

I know what you mean, everytime I see one of those rooms I know deep in me that something is wrong or theres not enaugh detail.

Sweet! How did you pull off this neat lighting? Skybox is sweet too. ;)

Only point you should fix, is that throughout the level, I found some texture misalignments.

thanks for the comments guys :D

I have a small problem now, everytime I go to rotate a certain surface, it just goes epileptic on me and just goes into a random position, if I rotate it back, it doesnt go back it just goes into another random position.

My rotate snaps and everything are all default but it still does it on that one surface, theres no errorsi n the surface either.

That is very nice, but the big room with the diagonal pillars looks weird, those shadows look too sharp and too dark.

also, for the love of... ... JK needs anisotropic filtering

Are you sure the consistency checker is empty? I only got this problem when the surface was not planar.

The consistancy checker is empty besides the other 2 errors that I fixed yesterday.

You know, you're asking a bit too much for JK? :P You can't make miracles with an engine that wasn't even MEANT to have shadows in the first place.

I think thats a pretty nifty first level, to make it even better you should add some light sources with flares and stuff, that'd be pretty cool.

Forgot to mension, the moon or sun on that skybox isnt alligned with the light in the beta yet.

All of this archi reminds me of some of my own creations. That's good! I really like what you've got here; DM ideals with interesting visuals. JK has gone too far towards the visuals, and people forget that the pretty levels haven't really always been FUN levels.
