I finally got a complete Senate chamber room put together that lets the player walk freely throughout the room. I think I need some new ideas to lower framerate. The 1st two screens are about 20 fps and the 3rd one is near 15 fps.

Absolutetly gorgeous, but an impractical map to fight in, for obvious reasons. Unless you were Emperor Palpatine and Yoda of course! :p

It really is awesome work, but I just can't see it as much more than eye candy. I'm afraid I know of no ways to improve framerate. I assume that those are all 3DOs? And that you are using the Thing Limit patch?

Wow! That place is huge! Nice stuff!

Go all out LOD whore. If you can't use the default JK 3do LOD's make a cog that changes their models.

If you make some lower polygon versions of the senate seats I can merge them with your current seats to set up the LOD dealies for you if you'd like/don't want to mess with that yourself.

Finally I found a way to show these screens a lil better!

I'm not using the thing/limit patch. There are LESS than 200 things in the entire room. Each vertical row of pods in the distance are actually individual "things". They are in lower rez: About 30 faces & 50 vertices each. The closer pods are individual things. And only the pods directly surrounding the player are walkstructures.

I think a one on one duel will work.

:p There are z-buffering issues I don't know how to eliminate. I do not know how to use dynamic lighting in Jedi Knight. Besides, the Senate Room is a fairly evenly lit room & this is Jedi Knight.

I agree. If I recall the Senate was much darker than that. Otherwise, looks great!

It doesn't look like he got around to the lighting yet.... funny, he's had time to arrange each of those pads perfectly, but no time for adding one measly dynamic light.


Nice work tho.... Keep it up, and lets see some lit shots.

I wonder what would happen if you made all the seats force-throwable and then used that power ingame. My guess is the Sith engine would then create a hole in the space time continuum. Looks spiffy.

now that's cool. I can tell by the screenies that it is unfinished b/c there is NO lighting. Actually, that would be fun with certain grappling hook mods. Think of KWP #7 gun, SECONDARY fire----LOL. No seriously, a sentry droid would get lost in that place.

Anyway, awesome!!! I know for one that my clan would love to play sbx in this level.

To lower the framerate you should make the place smaller, for gameplay sake, and make the pods 3do's (or are they?). Make some of them Force Throwable, like here and there, a little spread out. And also if you land on a throwable object, it will move/fall. Which is pretty cool! Make sure the supreme chancellor's platform works like an elevator. Maybe have some 'floating' pods around, slowly moving, rocking, so you can duel by fighting on the pods and jumping from one to the other! :)

You could actually make this level work! Please do, I would love it!

This is a testament to why LEC made the object limit in the "sith" engine. :banned: Awsome level though, too bad the FPS is gonna be unbearable.

most computers nowdays should completely be able to handle this many polys, especially considering the engine doesnt have to render high detail weapon/player models.. you guys should remember, it's an 8 year old game, but most of our computers arent 8 years old(dear god i hope so at least).

You could make the pods bigger and the chamber smaller, that way it would be easier to fight on them, and you would need less of them.

Also, I would put a little more space in between pods. Makes for more interesting fights, and together with increasing the pods' size you should be able to halve down the number of 3do's there.

I've never made anything single player with any ai included before so I followed a tutorial to insert bobafett into the room and even though I cheated he kicked my ***. Hope I'm not overloading the thread with images.

So its coming along. I would like to play as Yoda and try jumping back up to go back after the Emperor instead of relying on careful timing and running away to hide in a swamp for 20 years But I'm not sure if thats such good idea since Darth Sidious had the high ground...
Yah, the Emperor should be able to fly a Senator's pod around and throw them. And they could be floating here and there so you can jump around some without flying. I don't know if I can figure out exactly how to do all that. I think the Emperor could have some super-Haduken move where he throws every remaining pod in the room at you.

I did a little calculating and that's probably more than about 20,000 polys in view from the pod 3do's alone. Your level is ridiculous... in a good way.

Purely amazing.

Definitely put some force-throwable ones in there, and maybe a button on the Emperor's platform thing that makes some of the pods float around.

Lighting could be a little darker, but that's ok for now. Great job on doing the LOD-ish thing with the pods.
