The level architecture is almost finished. You can't see it in these views, but there's an underground TIE hangar that I think looks pretteh nahss.

Just thought I'd toss this up here and see if anyone wanted to test a beta with me this fall.

Yeah, they're low quality screens. So what?

sooooo we can barely see the level? Seriously, you need to post good quality screens...those are atrocious... From what I can see it looks good but I can't see much.

:p

Yes, when you're actually playing, the level looks like a candy store. Sorry to be so misleading.

Cheers.

Yummy, candy. A candy store is a very original idea, grats! I just don't see why there has to be an underground candy store next to a tie hangar. I mean, candy is not really useful for space battles, right? Or are they trying to allure the candyman for some kind of trojan horse operation? Rebels love candy for sure, so this plan could actually work. It would at least be a good medium to bribe the ewoks. It's always good to have pockets full of candy when you are dealing with natives, you know.
Another possible purpose would be as sidestore for the merchandising centre that's going to be installed there after the ultimate victory over the rebels and after the site becomes a historic place.
Or wait, maybe it's a new weapon that prevents the x-wings from entering their "assault stance" or whatever it's called.
Ok, that wasn't funny.

The thread really needs some better screenies, man.

I agree...why showcase something if none of us can really see it?

I'm curious as to why you would ever use GIF... when JPEG not only looks better, but compresses smaller too? (For those type of pics, at least)
2005-08-12, 11:29 PM #7
Ooo, me! Pick me! *waves hand in the air*

Really, you guys whine too much. Yeah, the screenies are poor, .gif sucks, .jpg will rule the friggin world, but actually look at the pics now that you've yelled about technicalities. Pretty...

Aye, you do what you have to do when you've worked hard on a project, and on a split decision, decide that you want to showcase your work on Massassi. And all you have to transport the information are floppy disks. Relatively full ones.

But hey, here are some better ones.

First, in-game.

Next, from JED.

And finally, we come full circle, and I ask you all: beta test, anyone?

Where's the candy store?
The contrast between the rock wall and the grass floor is too high. Either brighten up the grass floor or darken the rock wall a bit. The trees seem to be a bit too bright, to. The rocky architecture looks really good, reminds me of ******'s Canyon Stream.
I can't betatest though, because I'm behind a firewall that I have no control of anymore.

Mip-mapping.

And I suggest checking out GoZ studios for some better ship models.

I would beta test, I love testing lol

btw, looking good!

Mip-map the tree textures, especially the leaves. The texture on the dead tree is blocktacular. The grass is very dark looking. A new higher res rock texture would be cool.

Why is the answer to why always why? Why is there no final answer to why? Simply why not? Holy cow, this is pretty deep, meaningful **** I wrote. Glad I wrote it down. Oh man."

I think he should try shutting off Mip Mapping all together, or at least make it so only the first and second mip work and at a longer distance. You can do this in JED.

Heh, I hadn't realized how terrible JK's textures really are... especially until I saw Zuljin's special updated versions on the rendering code thread.

But the level looks rather good, expecially that hanger part. I like how this level actually gives a feeling that there is more outside the canyon you are in, most canyon levels just slap a sky texture on the roof, giving htat 'floating in space' feeling.
DO NOT WANT.

See, I really kinda wanted some beta testers. And I can't get a hold of anyone who volunteered yet. Can I recruit anyone new to try it out? Right now, the .gob file is about 2.5 MB, zipped.

Sounds like you have your firewall set on paranoia, then :p. Open port 6667 TCP outgoing for IRC.

Would you care to ask the campus' network administrator for me?
